Description: i get off the rusted chinese junk that my ship has used as a liberty boat, just one thought...what should i do? after much deliberation, i decide to eat something solid, 3 monthes at sea on a warship isn't a precedence for wholesome food! how about chinese |

hitting the ground running in hong kong
November 23rd 2006, across the water from kowloon, Hong Kong
i was the first person off the chinese junk and onto fenwick pier, as usual, there is beer readily available, but i want to stay sober at least until the sun goes down. there are so many tall biuldings here in hong kong that i wonder how am i going to find my way, so i took a taxi and went to eat at dan ryans steakhouse, i DEFINITELY need something solid before i hit kowloon. i see all my shipmates going straight to the bars the second they ht the pier, and they dd it running, it seems like they want to forget the last 3 monthes, not that i can blame them for what they have to up with. the funny thing is as i was riding in the taxi was that even though it is a big city, i can still hear chinese people yelling at each other thru the taxi window...maybe it is just the way they talk? by the way, watch out for hong kong drivers, they try to rip you offby saying the amount of money but they nicely forget to tell you which currency they think you have on you that you should pay them with.
Top Tip:
watch out for the taxi drivers they will try to rip you off, it seems to be every driver that i meet that does this, if they charge you more than 70 hong kong dollars to where your going, be careful ad consider if the price is worth it.
