Leather Wax Strips

Leather wax strips was just one of the funny quotes uttered by the four of us during our second trip to Amsterdam. As well as tickle me pigs...like tickle me elmo...but a pig...you know. Anyways, I have been to Amsterdam twice. The first time I travelled with a group of 12: 4 Canadians, 1 Brit, 1 Swiss, and 6 Australians. We visited all the thing you need to visit when you are in Amsterdam: The Rembrant museum, the Van Gogh museum, coffee shops, red light district, Anne Franks house, and some of us even went to a sex show!
The second time I went with three Australians and we had a more relaxing trip. We went to the wax musuem and that was about it. But I think the second trip was better. We hung out more and experianced the city (by sitting on a bench in a square for several hours...). A smaller group was also a lot easier to manage and accomodate everyones desires.
The best memories I have of Amsterdam are the funny conversations that I had with my companians while under the influence and all the new inside jokes we now have!

Well....all hostels in Amsterdam are overpriced according to me, so this one was no more overpriced than the rest. The dorms were nice, six people to each dorm. They also serve a standard breakfast in the morning which is a huge plus. The location was decent with everything we wanted to see being in walking distance.
Also there is a cozy little bar in the basement with couches that are just great to relax and come down on after a hard night out! |

This is just one of those things that you *have* to do while in Amsterdam....or it is? We decided that a sex show was a much so we went to one of the cheaper ones that we found. (and by cheaper I mean 30 euro, which isnt really that cheap anyways) Basically it is a stage with chairs and you watch couples have sex on stage, and a couple strip teases. Its all kind of weird...and the couples didnt even look like they were having fun. The whole thing was sort of ackward, but in any case, now we can say we went to a sex show in Amerstdam! My recomendation is that if you are going to go to one, go to a decent one, and pay the inflated price! |
Top Tip:
Although some drugs are legal in Netherlands, its generally polite to not go out on the streets stoned. Not only can it be dangerous, but you can also make quite a pest out of yourself. The only thing is, it is not a good idea to do mushrooms inside and usually the trip is alot more positive if you are outside. When you do this make sure you go somewhere where you will not danger yourself or others, and also not make a pest out of youself.
