I spent 3 weeks in Argentina last year and would highly recommend it to anyone! If you are into outdoor life, food, wine, music and dancing then Argentina is for you. The people are lovely and the scenery is breathtaking! I could live in Buenos Aires...

Q: Hello

Can you tell me please how you went about getting hold of Boca Juniors tickets & how easy it was. My partner & I really want to go to a match when we're in Buenos Aires

A: Hi there,
We just went along to the stadium about an hour before the game and bought tickets from the kiosk. It was all pretty straightforward. It might be more difficult if its a local derby against River Plate, but I think its still possible to get tickets at the gate as we met some people whod did that. The atmosphere at the game was brilliant - I would highly recommend it!
Q: What is the best season to go to Argentina...I was told in the summer from December to January. Are flight tickets to Argentina always expensive or does it make a difference if you buy tickets in advance. How much in advance? I was looking at some prices and tickets cost around US$1000 per person. Isn't that too much?

A: Yes, this is a nice time to go. I was there in November and it was pleasant but not too hot. Flight tickets are more expensive in December and January though. $1000 seems quite expensive from the US, I went from London and spent about this amount but that is a much longer journey.
Q: Is it a serious handicap to be able to speak English only?

A: Well you can get around in Buenos Aires and in the main tourist destinations, but bring a spanish phrasebook as a little knowledge of Spanish is very useful.
Q: What is a good gift to bring home from Argentina?
Submitted By: Meme on the 5th September 2005
A: Chocolate from Bariloche, wooden handcrafts, red wine or some Matte which is the local hot drink that tastes a bit like tea.
Q: What is your ‘insider tip’ for Argentina?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 31st August 2005
A: Go see a football game. The locals are a lot more passionate about football than us Europeans. I went to see a Boca Juniors game in Buenos Aires, Bocas are the team Maradonna used to play for. I'm not a big football fan, but the atmosphere was electric - so colourful, and noisy I thought the stadium couldn't withold the stamping and cheering!
Q: Is it easy to get around Argentina?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 31st August 2005
A: Getting from city to city is quite easy - internal flights are pretty reasonable and may be necessary if you are doing log distances like Buenos Aires to Iguazu. Overnight busses are another option - always get first class tickets, for a little extra you get plenty of legroom, a big comfy seat and you even get fed at intervals during the journey making the whole experience a lot more pleasant.
