I was born and raised in Edmonton, Canada. I'm definitely a regular on the club scene but I'm also very familiar with the museums/galleries. Want to know something about Edmonton? Ask Sweet_beaches a question

Q: In your opinion, what is Edmonton’s number one attraction?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 22nd June 2006
A: Whyte Avenue. It's gotten some bad press thanks to the NHL playoffs, but it has the best bars, clothing shops, and coffee shops in town. It just has a great vibe.

Q: What else shouldn’t be missed?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 22nd June 2006
A: West Edmonton Mall. It’s a tourist trap, but it’s something you HAVE to see for yourself to understand. Sir Winston Churchill Park (downtown) is gorgeous in the summer, and a great place to eat outdoors.

Q: Is it expensive to eat out in Edmonton?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 22nd June 2006
A: It depends on where you go. Chinatown is cheap, but make sure the establishment is clean/not creepy before you eat there. There are lots of family restaurants with good, cheap food. And they serve breakfast all day :)

Q: What is the best part of Edmonton to eat out in?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 22nd June 2006
A: Mongolie Grill (Jasper Ave & 111 St, Downtown). Sort of buffet style, but not all you can eat. You get a metal bowl, fill it with whatever veggies, meat, fish, and sauces you want, then you give it to the chef to cook. They bring it to your table. You are charged by the weight, a generous portion (for me!) is about $12, but there is unlimited rice and soup with it, so it’s always filling and yummy!

Q: Is it expensive to go out at night in Edmonton?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 22nd June 2006
A: Most bars don’t charge cover before 10pm, and the majority offer birthday packages/staggettes/etc for free. Some provide limos as well. Charge is never more than $5, and drinks are $3.50-$5.75 depending on the bar. 99% of the bars have cheap drink nights and power hours.

Q: What is your favourite bar/club in Edmonton?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 22nd June 2006
A: Union Hall (99 ST & Argyll Rd). Thurs- 9-10pm 25 cent highballs, $2 drinks after 10pm. Fridays: Ladies Night. Union is always a good time! It’s the only rock bar left in Edmonton
The Bank (109 St & Jasper Ave) For 21+ only, unless you get there early in the night & have friends who are 21. Very classy joint, drinks are $5.75, there is a strict dress code so classy is the watchword.
