Top Tip: Travelling to Portugal or just Lisbon? You'll love it!!! Just ask for tips!

I'm a Portuguese tourism graduate that lives in Lisbon for more than 3 years. I discovered the city while working and believe me that either you love it or you hate it... I've been working with tourists for a while now and as a very curious person, I'm always looking for cool tips to share! Basically, if I don't know it yet, I'll find it! Why is it that Lisbon doesn't have a pocket guide yet?!

Q: In your opinion, what is Lisbon’s number one attraction?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 13th January 2007
A: Lisbon is an amazing city to discover. The people, the food, its 7 hills, trams and history, this city makes you feel like staying and staying...if you're into walking, you'll love it...Anyway the two main trams take you to the highlights to the city. Sunny almost 10 months a year, Lisbon has an amazing light if you're passionate about photography like me! An amazing history together with modern concepts, design, fashion and multicultural night life...especially after you feel the vibe at Bairro Alto! The city nightlife is good around 00h and really good from 2am to 6am and going... and much more to discover in this special place by the Atlantic...
Q: What else shouldn’t be missed?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 13th January 2007
A: The typical districts; the monuments from the discoveries; the tiles; the fleamarket; the amazing views from the several viewpoints; the mouth-watering pastry, local and national; Fado concerts and some museums; a day trip top the surrounding Sintra (more tips available...) and Cascais areas.
Q: Is it expensive to eat out in Lisbon?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 13th January 2007
A: It depends on what you want...The food is really tasty, fresh fish, fruits and vegetables are a part of the Portuguese daily life. You can find really cool places to eat out like taverns, restaurants where Portuguese gastronomy can be represented and still not pricy... Anyway, touristy places are not a very good suggestion if you want to keep the budget... Give it a try!
Q: What is the best part of Lisbon to eat out in?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 13th January 2007
A: Bairro Alto and downtown areas. The first one because of its diversity, the other for the typical places, mixed with the touristy main restaurant areas... For fresh fish, other areas, are a bit pricy, but worthwhile...
Q: Is it expensive to go out at night in Lisbon?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 13th January 2007
A: No. To start, €1 for a beer and you can hang out on the streets of "Bairro" crawling from door to door (bar to bar)... Some places with live music, have an entrance but it usually includes a drink.
Q: What is your favourite bar/club in Lisbon?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 13th January 2007
A: Several, because it's hard... A lot to see and try!! Bairro Alto has the variety and always some place you don't know yet... Left bar (myspace.com), Lounge... Clubs, huummm... Incógnito for the music and the pirate looking owner and Lux for the €12 entrance you can convert in drinks (4 beers), eclectic atmosphere, despite the lines at weekends...
