I've spent most of my life in NYC. It's an incredible city just a bit overwhelming & expensive...but luckily there's always plenty of choices. I can help you sort them out. I'm always on the look-out for free art and cultural events around town, unique restaurants and shows and fabulous affordable fashion. I can help you with questions on squeezing the most out of NY on a limited budget. Want to know something about New York City? Ask Ihearttravel a question

A: Wow, three days in NYC! You'll have a ball. On Thursdays is ladies night at Webster hall, one of the legendary clubs here, so it would be nice to check out. You like poetry... check out Nuyorican Cafe, they usually have poetry night and cool events. Live music, check out Pianos in LES or CBGBs or S.O.Bs. A few more club ideas... Copacabana & Crobar. You can get loads of info on hot events by looking through Time Out New York the week you plan to come. Enjoy your trip!

Q: Hi
I'm going to NY for a total period of 90 days - I'm very excited, of course! - But I do have some difficulties finding a place to live: It seems its a bit hard to book a hostel in the city - I looked atThe Continental Hostel, which seems fine, but can't book it for that long a period.
Do you have any idea where to stay for a longer period (3 months) in NY? (i've checked YMCAs but its actually a bit pricy) I've also tried Craigslist.com, for a sublet, but it seems people are not that happy about renting out to tourist, people they can't meet with before making a deal with you...
please tell if you have any ideas..thanks ;-)

A: Hello! Wow so you've done great research. Basically everything you've done I would've suggested. You are right about sublettting to tourist. One more suggestion would be to look in the boroughs... Queens, Brooklyn. Usually in these areas you will find more affordable housing and there are plenty of homes that want to rent out a room. One idea is to book a hostel for 3-4weeks and have a sublet set up for the remainder of your time. This way you can meet and greet the person who's subletting when you come to town. Aside from that I would say to keep looking at craigslist under room/temp or sublets. Good luck in your search and enjoy your stay

Q: Hi I'm 25 year old gal from Brazil. Me and my friend are going to be in NY for the new years. We are going to be in Times Square for the count don but I want to know a cool club to go afterward. The thing is my friend is 20.
If you could give us a tip on a place and what to where too, I'm guessing what I where to go clubbing in Brazil is not the same there, well that is one of my questions. I wanted to know if there are good outlets for brand names there too, brand like Nike, Addidas, Gap...
Thanks so Much!!

A: sorry I couldn't get to your question in time. I was out of town for a while and away from my computer. hope you enjoy your stay. you'll be fine on 113th. Trains in NY are pretty frequent and reliable. Just beware of sudden service changes but you'll be within 20 minutes or so from everything.

Q: Hi, I´m Ana Clara from Argentina, and I would like to know best places to see fashion in september. I´m a fashion designer looking for fashion trends. Where I must go? Thanks!
Submitted By: Ani on the 4th August 2006
A: Hola! sorry for the delay in responding -- ah yes Fashion!!! Love it!! if only I had the time and money to do more shopping:((. Well to answer your question, basically the streets of NY is a great big fashion show. Go to the upper east side for upscale expensive fashion trends. Take a trip down to the east village for funky and punky fashion and stroll down the streets of soho for a mixture of the two. Ahh and wait, I heard through the grapevine that there will be a Fashion event including American and international designers in Battery Park on the 18th of Sept. Enjoy your stay!
