I'm living in Rotterdam, in the center of the city. I'm going out to clubs/bars/restaurants and festivals in this city. I like to go to museums and take photos of Rotterdam. I also know lots of historical information about Rotterdam.
Q: I am going to be in the Netherlands for about a month in May/June. I am planning on sleeping outside, in parks or open grassy areas, most of the time. I have a sleeping bag. I was wondering if you think that this is actually possible. Will I be able to sleep outside in parks without other people bothering me? What about in the bigger cities like Rotterdam and Utrecht? Will I be safe? Thanks.

A: This won't be possible, you can't sleep on the street, you will get caught by the police. It's illegal to sleep outside.

Q: What is your ‘insider tip’ for Rotterdam?

A: Come in the summer and go to some festivals. Major festivals are 'Zomercarnaval' and 'FFWD Dance-Parade'. Also go and visit the city-beach at the Maas. Enjoy!

Q: Is it easy to get around Rotterdam?
Submitted By: Hostelworld Moderator on the 15th March 2006
A: You can cover most of the city on foot or otherwise by public transport (metro/tram/bus). The best way to look around is to do it like all Dutch do and go on a bike.
