Good first impression of Europe
I came to Amsterdam expecting non-stop parties and weed, but was surprised to see that it was actually a beautiful city full of culture. It was easy to walk around, but I wouldn't trust the public transportation. The trams wouldn't stop and it's hard to know where they're going due to the structure of the city. The red-light district is a must, as it is a unique experience that is much safer than you'd expect, as it is filled with more tourists than actual customers. The museums were great, and the library is phenomenal. I loved Amsterdam.
- Insider tip:The best part of our stay was our botel (a hotel on a boat). The harbor is not far away (a short walk) and we had a great stay. I highly recommend keeping an eye out for these.
