Lots of places to drink for sure and free food tickets are easy to come by, not that much to do in Darwin, my tip is to get out to the Amazing Kakadu and Litchfield parks for a few nights trek

If you make the trip up through the center, Darwin is definitely worth it in the end. Multi-day trips into the Bush were very enjoyable. The town itself isn't so grand, but it had some fun bars, great hostels and interesting WWII history. Don't miss some of the sunsets and great bush dining, also their nature museum is quite a site.
