Consisting of five suburbs, this town four hours drive north of Brisbane is one of Queensland's largest. Its two major draw cards are Fraser Island (the majority of ferries heading for Fraser depart from here) and whale watching. Over 3000 humpback whales enter the waters around Hervey Bay each year. If you are doing neither, it is still a nice town to relax for a couple of days. view more»

Hervey bay is a great gateway to fraser island. Good to stay for the night before and after fraser. nice small town with cheap meals and a nice beach to chill out on. if ur inclined to do a skydive whilst in oz do it here, u can see out to fraser island, the view is stunning
