Kyoto: city of ZEN

Love this city, there's so much character built into this city that you'll never fail to be amused. Plus it's easy to get around on foot or bike that anywhere are within reach.

  • Insider tip:Plan to enjoy the city at leisure pace, spend more days here and you'll be seeing things at slower but really experience the soul of the city.

Kyoto really ROCKS!

Wonderful city - best spot in Japan even if I still haven`t been in Tokyo - anyway I`m sure that there you can find all culture and amusement you could need. It`s possible to walk a lot because there are lots green or residential areas where there`s a few traffic or nothing at all. Also amazing shrines and in spring cherry blossoms get everything look better.

  • Insider tip:Buses are sometimes very crowded (so much you cannot get off!) and metro don`t take you everywhere.

Kyoto is definitely a city to visit in Japan!! :)

Cherry blossoms were beautiful, but be careful, spring brings many showers. It rained for our trip, but there is still a ton to do.

  • Insider tip:Rent a bicycle. It's the best way to see all that Kyoto has to offer!! Trains are great, but the stops are not really close to the best places!!

Kyoto, Cultural slice of Japan

Castles, pagodas, temples, geishas, shrines and even gravesites, to shopping, whether markets or department stores, all conveniently accessed by 4 bus routes that encircle the city. If thats your cup of oolong tea, then Kyoto is a must go!. Best cultural experience i got out of from 5 cities i visited in japan.

  • Insider tip:Buy a day pass if you plan to travel around and grab a bus route map and plan out your trip. the routes are circular and encircle the city and there are special routes that are designed for tourists as they pass by landmarks in the old capitol of japan.

Culture in Kyoto

While Kyoto is almost indisputably the heart of Japanese culture, after a day of sightseeing in the historic shitamachi, there are plenty of places to let loose. Kyoto has everything that a Japanese city should offer, without the hurry-hurry of Tokyo.

  • Insider tip:Distances on maps appear shorter than distances in real life.
