A varied selection of bars and clubs scattered throughout Alice Springs ensure that you will always find somewhere to drink or dance the night away. Lots of places also have promotional nights so ask in your hostel or keep an eye out for flyers or posters advertising such events. They’re an excellent way to cut down on your spending usually offering free drinks and other such treats.
As well as the host of bars offering entertainment to visitors to Alice Springs, there are also a number of excellent festivals and events taking place throughout the year. If you can coincide your visit with one of these, you are in for a real treat. The first takes place in April and is a traditional Heritage Week which celebrates the town’s rich history. On the first Monday in May you will find the Bangtail Muster which is basically one day of mayhem. The Camel Cup races take place in mid July while rodeo season begins in late August. Alice’s most famous event, the Henley-on-Todd Regatta, takes place in early October involving bottomless boats – don’t ask. Finally, on the last Sunday in November you will find the Corkwood Festival – the town’s arts festival.
And, to keep up to date with the goings on after dark in the city keep a look out for Pulse NT which is free every fortnight or the town's Central Advocate which will also keep you fully informed as to what events and concerts are taking place in Alice.
