City Guide Auckland, New Zealand

Visiting Auckland

Enjoying a spectacular location between Waitemata and Manukau Harbours, and surrounded by and built on fifty extinct volcanoes, Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and the gateway to the country's North Island. It boasts a neat and compact city centre which doesn't require too much leg-stretching when checking out its sights, restaurants and bars. It is also home to some of the country's most cosmopolitan neighbourhoods.

    So much to offer

A lot of people get to the CBD and think that that is all that exists of this city, but its not. If you can get a car or even a bus out to the fringes of this huge region you will be blessed with beautiful beaches and huge ranges from which to explore. Don't just confine yourself to the city. The city is packed full of amazing places to go and eat for a bargain and there are lots of good places to drink down by the harbour and up on K Road.

Insider Tip:Eating on a budget? Go to K Road and choose from many cheap eateries - particularly Likewise Merge Cafe where all proceeds go to the homeless and you can get a meal for $4

    it was great!

I happen to really like auckland. would definitely recommend checking out the other islands like waiheke and rangitoto definitely sign up for the tours of those islands. i thought the city was also rather pretty at night, and the amount of walking i did in the city made me end up losing weight (despite living off of junk food during my entire stay in nz) hahaha

Insider Tip:for great nightlife, go to cassette 9!

    Actually i don't like Auckland

comparing with Whole New Zealand. i think the south island is better, not only the view but also the people .

    Much to see and do!

We had so much fun in Auckland and loved every moment. The city is easy to walk though and the ferry operates regularly and is also easy to book. Relaxing city to visit and so much to see if you have time to go around a bit more.

Insider Tip:Visit the Auckland zoo, it is very beautiful and you might see some kiwi birds too. Ride the ferries as much as you can and visit the islands. If you take the buss, remember to check where your stop is because the drivers don't always remember to stop even if you ask them to stop at some specific buss stop. There's no electronic signs inside the busses to tell you what stop is coming next so make sure you know where you are going. If you want to cook your own food, go to new world store to get the food.
