City Guide Auckland, New Zealand

Visiting Auckland

Enjoying a spectacular location between Waitemata and Manukau Harbours, and surrounded by and built on fifty extinct volcanoes, Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and the gateway to the country's North Island. It boasts a neat and compact city centre which doesn't require too much leg-stretching when checking out its sights, restaurants and bars. It is also home to some of the country's most cosmopolitan neighbourhoods.

    The Gateway to New Zealand!!

Auckland is an amazing place New Zealands largest city with the highest population. Be sure to have a couple of nights out there before you explore the rest of the city.

Insider Tip:Get on a ferry to Waiheke Island, take a walk through the trees & relax on the beautiful beach there. Have your camera handy on the journey back & get a great shot of the Auckland skyline!!

It's hard to complete a proper review because I was in New Zealand for a wedding and the only time I spent in Auckland was from 8pm until 4am the next morning. However I can only comment on what I saw and it seemed like the kind of place that I would like to visit again.

No problems with base, only the key cards, i had 3 different keys for a 3 night stay because they wouldn't work, which isn't really annoying, but if you have to go down to reception in the morning still in your pyjamas its a bit embarassing. but apart from that i like base.

    Auckland.....

I'm from Wellington so Auckland is only so-so for me; but I'm biassed 'cos I'm a native; Wellington is definitely the city you want to visit.

Insider Tip:Use the Link buses to get around; great price, regular and on time and they go everywhere you will want to go in the urban sprawl.

New Zealand: Itinerary

New Zealand is one of the most popular countries in the world among backpackers. It is famed for its awe inspiring scenery thanks to an array of mountains, glaciers and lakes. If you like adrenaline sports this is one of the best countries in the world to do them. And as it is divided between a north and south island, not many countries in the world are as diverse as this one.
