Nightlife in Bratislava is incredibly varied, consisting of everything from quiet local bars to rowdy clubs to chic cocktail dens.
A walk around the city’s Old Town area will provide numerous venues for you to check out. This includes everything from the Aligator rock pub on Laurinská to Cocoloco cocktail bar on Nam SNP. For some a bit quieter, you could check out Café Viki on Banskobystrická which is close to the Grassalkovich Palace so it’s a great spot for a daytime tipple.
If you’re looking for something a bit more cultural to do in the evenings, there are lots of options. You could check out a performance at the Slovak National Theatre or head to the Reduta, home to the Slovak Philharmonic. If live music is your thing, you’ll be able to see all kinds of bands and musicians perform in venues throughout the city.
Laurinská 7, Bratislava, Slovakia
Perfect for rock fans, this dark gem of a bar is reached by heading down a flight of stairs under the watchful eye of, you guessed it, an alligator. Not a live one, of course, just a pretty cool statue. Once inside the bar you can sample something from the extensive drinks menu, find some space on the floor to mosh along to the music, or if you’re lucky, catch one of the many live performances.
Open Tues-Sat 6pm-3am, closed Sun and Mon.
Nám SNP 1, Bratislava, Slovakia
One of the city’s finest cocktail bars, shiny Cocoloco is filled with lively customers sipping concoctions of all colours or having a dance to the loud music pumped around the entire bar. Check out the alcove tables if you’re looking for a bit more privacy from the crowd. Drinks specials are served up by the English-speaking, attentive staff.
Open Mon-Thurs 8pm-4am, Fri-Sat 8pm-5am, Sun 8pm-2am.
