Eating Out in Christchurch, New Zealand

As one would expect many English style pubs and restaurants adorn the streets of Christchurch, though in recent years a multitude of international varieties have surfaced, and as with most tourist destinations, there are styles of food to satisfy a variety of differing tastes. Many of the restaurants in the central Christchurch combine contrasting styles of cuisine, Italian and New Zealand, Chinese and Pacific Rim, just to name a few, and the result unique dining experiences that can only be found in Christchurch. Several restaurants are situated very close to the Avon, and set the scene for a romantic punt ride on the river, dinner by candle light at one of the many eateries and a leisurely stroll along side the river to finish the evening. If something a little more social is needed, many of the restaurants and cafes, provide entertainment after the kitchens close, and stay open till the early hours of thee morning, so doubling as bars as well as venues for dining.
