Hamburg is famed for its nightlife, specifically the nightlife found along the infamous Reeperbahn. Yes, this area is home to strip joints and sex shops, but it also boasts some of the city’s most popular bars and clubs.

It won’t cost you a cent to get into this club which attracts a mixed crowd who come to take advantage of the Happy Hour (which lasts from 7pm to midnight), drink cheap cocktails and dance to music provided by live DJs. Hardcore partygoers take note; Shooters also hosts a morning club which can go on until 11am.

If you're looking for somewhere lively to enjoy a drink, this bar is a great choice as it attracts a chattering mix of both locals and visitors. On Monday nights Bedford hosts its Blue Monday Sessions which sees intimate performances by a wide variety of live music acts, while a DJ provides the tunes from Tuesday to Saturday.

A top-notch rocker bar, Lehmitz is a lot bigger inside than it appears from the front, with lots of counter space where you can grab cheap beers and more. There’s a big TV showing sports inside and if you’re looking to play a little something yourself, you can try your luck at the foosball table. This is also a great place to hear live music with rock and metal bands performing regularly.

As well as being a popular spot for a bite to eat, Presse Café also attracts a great crowd who come to sample the reasonably priced cocktails, beers, wines and more. Staff are friendly as you walk in the door you’ll notice some blankets stacked there for customers to use if it gets a bit chilly at the outdoor tables. If you don’t fancy sitting outside, don’t worry as there are plenty of comfy spots to sit inside too, including window seats with a great view out onto Sussanenstrasse.

Bellini (Danzinger Str.) is popular with men and women, La Strada (Rostocker Str.) caters to men only and Frauenkneipe is one of the top lesbian bars on the scene.
