Unlike most city centres around the world, Lima’s isn’t necessarily the best area to go for when it comes to nightlife. Instead, around Parque Kennedy in Miraflores and in Barranco which are both south of the centre are the most popular areas in Lima for going out.
The Peruvian capital is a melting pot for culture and Limeños are great lovers of the performing arts. Sadly, the city’s flagship theatre Teatro Municipal burned down in 1998 and has yet to be restored. Today, Teatro Segura is the main theatre for drama and dance performances. There are also many folklore ‘peñas’ around the city which put on very unique performances.
To be tuned in about what is going around Lima keep an eye out for El Comercio which is published daily. In this publication you will find everything listed from sporting events to plays and everything in between. There is an English magazine which comes out monthly called Lima Times which is also a good resource of listings.
