Getting There
Located about an hour and a half by bus from Cairns and two and half hours from Townsville, the easiest way to get to Mission Beach is by taking a connecting bus from either town. McCafferty’s run a service between Mission Beach and both towns as does Greyhound Pioneer. The fare to or from Cairns is about $15 while Townsville is about $35.
Coral Coaches also operates a connection between Cairns and Mission Beach and this runs five times daily and costs $25. You should note that you will need to make reservations for this service.
Getting Around
Mission Beach Bus Service operates a regular service between Bingil Bay and South Mission Beach between 8.30am and 5.00pm. Later in the evening the service is somewhat more limited. The maximum fare is $4 during the day and $2 in the evening. This service also operates connections between Lacey Creek and Licuala Walks which costs $2.50 each way.
Most visitors to the region, however, will agree that the best way to get around is on foot as the walking trails are superb offering a unique combination of beachfront paths as well as those through rainforest. These trails present an opportunity which you simply won’t get sitting on a bus so take advantage of this while getting yourself in touch with nature. See, we think of everthing.
