Thrill seekers, sun worshippers everyone in between will find something to do in and around Plettenberg Bay, an area which boasts numerous activities to get the adrenaline pumping as well as beautiful beaches, animal sanctuaries and plenty more.

One of the top adventure activities here is bungee jumping from the Bloukrans Bridge. Just a short drive from Plett, this bridge is located an impressive 216 metres above the ground and is the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. If the jump itself is a bit much for you, you can try the Flying Fox, where you slide out along a line stretched under the bridge across to the bungee platform really, really quickly.

Other popular activities in the area include sky diving, mountain biking, hiking, surfing and much more.

Visitors who are less included to be so active will find plenty of other things to do in Plett. At animal sanctuaries such as Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and the Elephant Sanctuary you can get up close a varied selection of amazing creatures. For a more aquatic experience, check out the boat trips offered by Ocean Blue Adventures on which you’ll be taken to see the seal colony at Robberg Peninsula, and if you’re lucky you might see dolphins, whales or other marine life.

Locals and visitors alike can be found sunning themselves on Plett’s beautiful beaches including Robberg Beach and Central Beach, with many going for a dip in the sea to cool off after some time spent baking on the sand.

Shoppers will find a cool selection of stores along and just off Plett’s main drag, from trendy boutiques to funky little bookstores.

  • Robberg Beach

    Split up into a number of different sections, including Robberg 5 which has been awarded a Blue Flag, Robberg Beach takes up the long stretch between Beacon Island and Robberg Peninsula. Here you can stroll along the sand, while picking up a shell or two along the way.

  • Keurbooms Beach

    This beautiful expanse of beach is some 10 kilometres from Plett and is well-worth a visit. Though the waves are a bit wild for swimming, the golden sand is perfect for sunbathing and walking along. You’ll also come across some cool viewing spots from the wooden boardwalk plus plenty of rock pools to poke around in.

  • Central Beach

    You can walk down to this popular beach from the centre of Plett in no time and all. When you get here you’ll find golden sand, a great place to go for a dip and plenty more including a number of nearby restaurants and kiosks.

  • Robberg Nature Reserve

    Not far from the centre of Plett you’ll find the Robberg Nature Reserve, a peninsula of incredible natural beauty which boasts stunning views of the town and the coast. The peninsula, which hosts a number of hiking trails plus a seal colony, is a good spot for whale watching in the right season.

  • Bungee Jump

    The bungee jump at the Bloukrans Bridge is the world’s highest commercial bungee jump at 216 metres above the Bloukrans River. Adrenaline junkies will revel in the thrill of the jump, while those looking for an alternative adventure should check out the Flying Fox, a 200m cable slide out to the bungee platform.

  • Birds of Eden

    Walking into the sunken forest at Birds of Eden is just the start of an awe-inspiring trek through the largest free-flight aviary in the world. Here you’ll marvel at the colourful and often very vocal birds from Africa and all over the world.
