The city is so nice with lots to do and see but sadly stinks like hell because of the geothermal area.

    Insider Tip:Mitai-Maori-Village

Rotorua is a beautiful (smelly tho) nice place with lots of hotsrings and vulcanic areas. Go to mountainbiking and visit to the maorivillages.

Insider Tip:The Puia, geysirs are too overpriced.

    Smelling, but very interesting!!

Rotorua and it's volcanic attractions are really cool. We started our stay with the Kuirau Park, a free park in the centre of the city. Next day we visited Waimangu Volcanic Valley. Beside seeing crazy volcanic activities you can have a nice walk/hike there.

Insider Tip:Rafting on the Kaituna River at Okere Falls. Great!! Down a 7 m waterfall.

Nice little city but not a lot to do. Very quiet so nice if you want to relax. If you're at a loss of what to do I'd recommend the GOvernment Gardens, the Polynesian Spa, looking at the Maori Church and haing a sit by the lake. Other than that most things involve leaving the city but the tourist information site is easy to find and they have plenty of information on what to do outside the city.

Great Hot Springs and Beautiful Surroundings, BUT Smells Like Fart

The town was decent ... there were some cute shops and restaurants. The hot springs and Polynesian cultural aspects were cool, but since it is near a bunch of hot springs, it smells very strongly of sulfur.

Insider Tip:Go to the Polynesian Spa ... great deal for a private adult pool!
