    If it’s fajitas and chimichangas you’re after, Andales is the place to go. With typical Tex Mex décor including several obligatory sombreros, the place is colourful, cheap and fun and an excellent place to begin a good night out.

  • Incendio

    For the ultimate bargain meal Incendio is only too happy to oblige with an all-you-can-eat pizza on Sunday nights. Also with an extensive beer and wine list and twenty-two different types of pizza, this place is especially popular with the locals.

  • Raincity Grill

    1193 Denman Street, Vancouver, Canada

    Typical Price for Main Course: $13 - $24
    This particular restaurant’s location is largely responsible for its popularity. Situated on the shoreline by the English Bay Beach, the view is superb. The food is good too and consists of a West Coast style menu with huge portions at a reasonable price. Be prepared to queue, but not for too long as the service is exceptionally efficient.

  • Sophie's Cosmic Café

    2095 West Fourth Avenue, Vancouver, Canada

    Typical Price for Main Course: $4.50 - $14.95
    Cluttered is probably a more suitable word than cosmic but the place is fun nevertheless. Packed with all types of knickknacks from the fifties and sixties, Sophie’s attracts all sorts. A simple menu with burgers, fries, milkshakes and the like, this is an eatery which you have to try at least once, for the sheer entertainment value if nothing else.

  • The Naam Restaurant

    2724 West Fourth Avenue, Vancouver, Canada

    Typical Price for Main Course: $3.95 - $8.25
    Open twenty-four hours a day, this is Vancouver’s oldest vegetarian restaurant. Once a hippie haven, the Naam is now an institution in the city and attracts both locals and visitors in their droves to sample the extremely cheap portions of noodles, burritos, rice and other veggie delights.

  • Pacifico Pizzeria Ristorante

    970 Smithe Street, Downtown Vancouver, Vancouver, Canada

    Even though this is a very busy spot you’ll be able to relax and enjoy a tasty meal in the comfortable atmosphere. Italian food is what’s on the menu here, with a great selection of pizzas and pasta dishes served up at reasonable prices alongside some very tempting desserts.

  • Bandidas Taqueria

    2781 Commercial Drive, Kensington-Cedar Cottage, Vancouver, Canada

    This interesting little spot is a must if you’re dining out along The Drive. Everything here is fresh and handmade right down to the delicious tortillas. This is Mexican food with a twist as all the burritos, enchiladas, tacos and nachos on offer are vegetarian or vegan. This includes the various brunch dishes which are served every day until 3pm.

  • The Foundation

    Generous portions of scrumptious vegetarian and vegan dishes are what you’ll find at this popular restaurant. Usually pretty crowded and a favourite with locals, this funky eatery offers a tempting array of dishes from nachos to tofu at very affordable prices.

  • Nice Café

    154 East 8th Avenue, Mount Pleasant, Vancouver, Canada

    Boasting a comfy, lived-in interior, Nice Café is a very popular spot with locals and is a great spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch. There’s a great choice on the menu including everything from soups and salads to big burgers, sandwiches and Canadian favourite, poutine. All-day breakfasts are also available along with diner regulars like apple pie, pancakes and sundaes.
