China is the world’s third largest country. Only Russia and Canada boast larger areas. But, it is also the country with the world’s largest population which currently stands at around 1.2 billion representing one fifth of the planet’s entire population. When many travellers arrive in China the sheer density of the population can come as quite a surprise. Nevertheless, this is usually surpassed by the wonder at the sheer beauty of the country and its unique culture.
With an area of almost ten million square kilometres, it is obvious before you even travel to China that the choice of things to do and see is extensive. What most people don’t realise, however, is exactly how extensive it actually is. You can enjoy a peaceful beach holiday in many of the tourist locations along the coast. Hainan Island is one such location where the unspoilt Sangya beaches are open all year round as there is no winter.
Or, for something a little more exciting and more hectic you might choose to spend your time in China in the bigger cities which really come to life after dark. The adrenaline junkies among you won’t be disappointed either with several mountain and desert locations where you can use up all that pent up energy.
And, as well as all the natural attractions you also have the unique addition of a history which dates back almost three thousand years. Ancient architectural sites, magnificent relics and artefacts and of course the Great Wall itself mean that whichever part of this vast country which you decide to visit, you will always find something to make you glad you came.
