Jamaica is famed for reggae music and this happens to have a heavy influence on the social scene on the island. The Jamaican music, and in particular Bob Marley, has made the country famous world wide.
Another type of music which of is making Jamaica famous is called ‘ragga’ music, or dancehall. This is very similar to reggae music except a bit more up-tempo and the subject matter of the song can usually be centred on women. This is still extremely popular and is becoming nearly more popular than reggae music in recent years.
As Jamaica enjoys such a warm climate many of the bars have outdoor areas and some of the bars are basically on the beach. The best places on the island for letting your hair down are Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios and the capital, Kingston.
