Food in Norway is excellent. Thanks to the Norwegian Sea, it is a fishing nation and the seafood available in different eateries around the country is, according to many, the best in Europe. Meat lovers are spoiled for choice also due to the dear and elk which are natives of the land.
But there is a price to pay (literally) for Norway’s culinary delights. Eating out can be pricy. Many restaurants around Oslo, Bergen and other cities are that little bit more expensive than in other European cities so you may find yourself cooking for yourself more than you may have expected.
If you want to eat as the Norwegians do try some local specialities. These include laks, (grilled or smoked salmon), geitost which is sweet brown goat cheese, and meatcakes.
