The Welsh capital Cardiff, Europe’s youngest, is (not surprisingly) the most happening city in Wales. Growing more cosmopolitan every year, it has over 350 pubs and bars which combine to create a vibrant atmosphere.
In other destinations around the country you bars and nightlife are also the best places to unwind at night, while in smaller towns and villages if you go to the more local pubs you will have a good chance of meeting locals.
There are more than a handful of events throughout the year around the country. The capital’s largest is ‘Cardiff’s Big Weekend’ which is held every year on the last weekend of July, the Brecon Jazz Festival which showcases artists from both home and abroad, and the National Eisteddfod of Wales, the country’s most important, and largest cultural gathering.
