Takes a 15min walking to get to the main square but it's definitely worth it. The building is amazing, both the rooms and the common areas are exquisite and the whole hostel has a very nice atmosphere. Rooms and showers are good as well (hot water and good pressure). Definitely better than staying at Miraflores, the old part of the city is so much better and everything is within walking distance!
Breakfast was limited enough, just bread rolls and coffee. Other than that, great place!
nice hostel near everything in downtown lima. little loud at night given the location but nice place and great staff.
The room wasn't huge, but we had everyhting we needed (table, window, bed). The Backpacker' 1900 style is just beautiful, so you can really enjoy your time at the hostel. The location is good - near the centre, but not too noisy. The staff is dedicated and could help us with all our questions... in english! It's definitely worth the money!
Nice place. Staff was nice too. I only thought the kitchen was a bit small for so many people.
SO LOUD! Everything is SO LOUD! The windows are always open and you can hear everything on the street and in the businesses next door. I am a heavy sleeper, but my boyfriend is a light sleeper and he did not get a moment of shut eye during the night.
What is really awesome about the hostel is the staff. Very nice people, helpful and willing to make your stay better. One of the best hostel staffs I´ve met! Also, the location is great, in the center of Lima, close to bus station and many interesting things to see in Lima. However, on the first night, when I came back all dirty and sweaty from the concert and headed to the shower, I got NO WATER. I took some points from facilities section for that. Apart from that, I really liked the hostel.
This Hostel was amazing. Everything was awesome and for the price, there should never be any complaints. The showers are hot, beds are nice and include bedding. The bar is awesome and the chef prepares awesome food. If only they had a Hostel like this in every city!

This hostel is great, excellent location, very clean and safe, friendly and helpful staff. very cool restaurant and bar!!!....Great experience
1900 Backpacker´s hostel is set in a charming building with vaulted ceilings and art decorating the walls in the historic downtown of Peru. The staff is awesome and will help you out with anything that you need, day or night. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a chill hostel away from the touristic part of town.
Nice friendly hostel with a good atmosphere. Spacious dorms and comfy beds. Nice little bar. We appreciated the late check-out.
Great hostel and a great value. The location is the best for exploring the historic part of Lima on foot. Plan a walking 'tour' up the pedestrian streets from Plaza San Martin to Plaza de Armas. History every.
It was okay enough, clean enough, and the staff was nice enough, but my expectations were much higher based on the reviews. I stayed in a twin private with shared bathrooms. It was very cold at night (late-Aug), as the back of the hostel is open without a roof. Everything is paid up front (no running tab) including drinks at the bar, so bring plenty of cash. The downtown area doesn't feel very safe at night. Moved to a hostel in Miraflores, and I found comparable hostels without all the hassle.
Location is terrific...could walk to all attractions. Staff were really nice and accomodating. I loved the building itself...old style high ceilings and crown moldings...it just felt like colonial..and fit right into its surroundings. Could have been a little cleaner...but otherwise its a better than decent hostel.
Well, definitely recommended. Staff was the main differential, everybody was very helpful and able to give us the best advice about pretty much everything. Bathrooms were cleaned up every now and then, which should be praised! The building itself is charming and cozy. It is located in downtown Lima, though you have to walk a few blocks to get to the nice spots such as the Plaza de Armas and the Plaza San Martin.
Good beds, clean sheets and down blankets. So good value for money, the cleanliness can be better. During the day it can get a little noisy but in all an good choice will stay there again.
I think we got the small double room instead of the bigger one that we saw in the pictures. The bed linen was exceptionally annoying because I think it was too small for the mattress so had to constantly re-do the bed in the middle of the night.

Good place, it is on busy, loud street and is a 20 minute walk from the historic cantre , but the immediate vicinity is not too interesting. Very nice building great staff
Had a great stay here! Wish we could have stayed longer.
Very loud music from the bar until late night and a very stinky room without any window.
