A place that I would definitely recommend and also go to again when visiting Lima. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the location is good because its near to the bus station, the old city centre and in close reach to the hip areas of Miraflores and Baranco. The hostel is in a old colonial mansion, which creates a great atmosphere. Thanks also for the good coffee. See you again some day!

We chose 1900 because it was recommended in the Lonely Planet guide. The proximity to the central and historic districts is amazing, although the hostel is in a slightly dodgy part of town and far from the nicer areas of Lima like Miraflores and Barranco. The breakfast was pretty lackluster and some interesting characters. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

1900, yes, its top choice for Lonely Planey. Please understand that each area of town has a different feeling. The Historic center, named a World Heritage Site by UNesco, is by far in our opinion the most interesting in terms of a historical-cultural way + you get to know how real limenos live. Most important, this area is safe and if you want to go to other areas is also close. It could be disorganized for First world countries, but its real and has character. Its Lima, not a copy of others.

This hostel is on a busy road and the car horns and shouting from outside can be heard all day. A lot of the hostel is actually open to the outside so its really cold and not a comfortable place to just hand out at. The staff are friendly and its pretty clean but I wouldn't stay here again.

Lima is busy, yes. Nothing we can do, but its not that bad. About your chilliness, just some corridors are open to the outside. Anyway, Lima has a fairly comfortable temperature all year round. Max you get 30 centigrades or 86 F and the coldest you get is 13C or 55F. So in the worst extreme days in Lima is not that bad. Anyway, we would have given u an extra comforter if you would have asked for it.

Lovely being so near the art gallery but not very good for nights out.

This is a great hostel that has everything. The staff is really cool and helpfull, it's very central. I highly recommend this hostel!
