The staff at the hostel were very friendly, but the physical comfort in this hostel was lacking. I know that most hostels are noisy, but never have I stayed in one that was so dirty or that sometimes smelled so awful. Particularly I have in mind the bathrooms and the kitchen: several time there WAS NOT EVEN RUNNING WATER, so the toilets couldn't flush in a place with about 30 people staying there. The kitchen smelled horrendous and had no light, so cooking in the evening was hard in the dark.

This is one of the best hostels i have ever stayed in.. i have stayed in plenty hostels througout the world and met plenty of people i am sure i will see again very great place people and atmosphere... however the one thing i did not like it is not for the light sleepers.. but was a small price to pay.. great place!!!!

The hostel is super beautiful and the dorms are quite big. The staff is very friendly and it is located right in front of a big park and the MALI.

Our stay in this hostel was amazing. We loved the things to do in the historic area surrounding the place. The house is a very stylish old mansion with beautiful decor and very clean! Would definitely come back.

Sorry for the delay, It is in only 15 mins from either of the 2 bus terminals, so don,t waste money on a cab, The buildind is so distinctive it is umissable. It is right in the centre of of the city with som any beautiful old buildings to admire all within walking distance, parks, museums galleries, and off the sidestreets some nice nice little plazaz. A modern shopping centre just a block away with a big supermarket just a block away. Glad I chose it instead of Miraflores.only a bus ride away.

pros- a little bit far out from miraflores which i think is a much better location Cons- The staff are very helpful and they have a travel agent which also helped us when we were in desperate need of a flight last min

Unfortunately we were unable to get on the flight to Lima flying standby, and flew to Buenos Aires as an alternative. we'll work our way up to Peru and eventually Lima by the 17th or 18th and hope to stay with 1900 Backpackers Hostel then. maybe we can use the money charged for the unused room to our stay in less than 2 weeks?

The hostel is beautiful! The only qualm is the kitchen is a little bare bones. Usually hostel guests want to cook a least one meal per stay, and this kitchen is a little difficult to work in.

It was a good one. The first night it smelt kind of funky and it was anoying while sleeping, but other than that it was a good stay, clean bathrooms, very friendly staff, and a good location near the historical center. They also kept my big luggage while i went to Cuzco.

Great hostel: very friendly staff, clean, comfortable beds & pillows, hot (!) showers. Yes, it's a bit noisier than other hostels, but if you ask me that's part of the atmosphere since you're staying in an old building along a busy road. It hasn't bothered us once, the bar & tv-room have decent 'opening hours'.

Stayed here during an overnight layover on my way to Cuzco. The place itself is pretty cool, but I think on the particular night I stayed there was a bunch of teenagers running around the hostel being loud until like 3am. That sucked, but it also sucked that when I got up the water was not working in the bathroom, which meant no shower and no sink and no working toilet! They had gotten the water back on by the time I was leaving but I had to get moving. I honestly think it was just a bad night.
