The staff at the hostel were very friendly, but the physical comfort in this hostel was lacking. I know that most hostels are noisy, but never have I stayed in one that was so dirty or that sometimes smelled so awful. Particularly I have in mind the bathrooms and the kitchen: several time there WAS NOT EVEN RUNNING WATER, so the toilets couldn't flush in a place with about 30 people staying there. The kitchen smelled horrendous and had no light, so cooking in the evening was hard in the dark.

Sorry for any inconvenient, but it was New Years Eve and the party was up to 8am. Other guests really mess up everything but this is not usual. The Cleaning staff took a while to clean everything on January 1st.. Sorry again and this wont happen again. We hope you have a great trip.

The hostel is super beautiful and the dorms are quite big. The staff is very friendly and it is located right in front of a big park and the MALI.

Our stay in this hostel was amazing. We loved the things to do in the historic area surrounding the place. The house is a very stylish old mansion with beautiful decor and very clean! Would definitely come back.

Sorry for the delay, It is in only 15 mins from either of the 2 bus terminals, so don,t waste money on a cab, The buildind is so distinctive it is umissable. It is right in the centre of of the city with som any beautiful old buildings to admire all within walking distance, parks, museums galleries, and off the sidestreets some nice nice little plazaz. A modern shopping centre just a block away with a big supermarket just a block away. Glad I chose it instead of Miraflores.only a bus ride away.

The Historic Center of Lima has thousands of years of history and culture in the making (it was inhabited way before the Spanish Colony) . When the Spanish came to South America, it became the place where they govern South America from ( UNESCO declared the historic center of Lima a World Heritage Site for its originality and high concentration of historic monuments). Nowadays, at this location you can find 30 + museums, historic colonial mansions and buildings, parks, plazas, shopping areas, bars, street food, good restaurants and the real authentic Lima vibe. In the historic center you can understand it´s character and feel Lima´s culture and people. If you like this then this is your place. On the other hand, if you want to be around high-end restaurants or boutiques in a commercial area when you are travelling to know another culture, then you might like better other areas in Lima where you can find lots of chain restaurants and expensive stores. Sorry, but we do not agree on what you say about the location, but we understand different people have different tastes and better to be aware when booking an accommodation. On the other hand, thanks for your comment about the staff and facilities. We do try to make everyone feel special and at home, just the same way we love to be treated when travelling around the world. This is an owner run hostel, so that´s why we can help you in person. Regarding the facilities, as you said, we have a travel agency in site, ATM machine, bar, individual lockers to charge electronic devices, WIFI, bar, rooftop, etc. We hope you have a great trip! Thanks!

Unfortunately we were unable to get on the flight to Lima flying standby, and flew to Buenos Aires as an alternative. we'll work our way up to Peru and eventually Lima by the 17th or 18th and hope to stay with 1900 Backpackers Hostel then. maybe we can use the money charged for the unused room to our stay in less than 2 weeks?

The hostel is beautiful! The only qualm is the kitchen is a little bare bones. Usually hostel guests want to cook a least one meal per stay, and this kitchen is a little difficult to work in.

It was a good one. The first night it smelt kind of funky and it was anoying while sleeping, but other than that it was a good stay, clean bathrooms, very friendly staff, and a good location near the historical center. They also kept my big luggage while i went to Cuzco.

Great hostel: very friendly staff, clean, comfortable beds & pillows, hot (!) showers. Yes, it's a bit noisier than other hostels, but if you ask me that's part of the atmosphere since you're staying in an old building along a busy road. It hasn't bothered us once, the bar & tv-room have decent 'opening hours'.

Stayed here during an overnight layover on my way to Cuzco. The place itself is pretty cool, but I think on the particular night I stayed there was a bunch of teenagers running around the hostel being loud until like 3am. That sucked, but it also sucked that when I got up the water was not working in the bathroom, which meant no shower and no sink and no working toilet! They had gotten the water back on by the time I was leaving but I had to get moving. I honestly think it was just a bad night.

Sorry for the bad sleep but those kids were invited to leave the next day. We try to deal with problems ASAP. REgarding the water issue, sorry you had the problem. Since Lima is the second biggest city in the world build on a dessert, sometimes the City Municipality cuts down water in different areas of Lima. Thats really rare though, last one before the one you experienced was a year before for 4 hours. They just cut it for some time. For example this week the City is cutting the service in San Isidro, Miraflores, La victoria, among other areas of town. Not in the Historic Center soon hopefully.
