Rooms too small. 6 beds in what should have been 4 bed - MAXIMUM!! The bathroom was tiny - shower dripped constantly. Kitchen was small, not much work surface space. Wasn't very clean and it smelt bad constantly. Think the bin needed cleaning. Great location, breakfast OK.

Stuff is not motivated. Rooms are really really small and lockers are easy to open. There was no place to leave the bags. The bathroom was really dirty. The location is good, 300 m to the Beach.

The hostel was extremely well located not far from the bus terminal and very close to the beach. This is definitely a party hostel and is a tad noisey, but nevertheless a fun hostel.

Positiv: Good common area easy to meet people, good bar with happy hour, Wifi great! => recommended!! Neg: Unflexible staff (don't adhere to 24 hour cancellation policy, e.g. can't reduce your stay from e.g. 5 to 4 days once you've checked in), rooms very small and only small lockers. No power plugs in rooms, laundry overpriced (15EUR for 1 bag, even if only 1kg)

Perfect location in the middle of two good beaches and a ten minute walk to the best bars. Good, fairly priced drinks in the bar with a cool barmaid. Amazing for chilling out or for partying. Expensive for a hostel, but the same price as others for the summer season. Would definitely stay here again if I go back to punta del este. Bunks are a bit crowded but you spend so little time in the room it doesn't matter.

Bad Hostel, to many beds in a small room, dirty bathrooms, unhelpful staff, too expensive.

Good location and excellent staff, but room's quality in general and bathrooms are not the best for the money it cost.

Great staff and the bar/lounge was an amazing place to chill...rooms tiny, bathrooms didn't work too well and they seem all about making money (so would check ppl in past midnight!) Breakfast was bad compared to every other place we have stayed.... Pute is expensive in general, but this hostel is so not worth paying what they ask!

Out of all the hostels I stayed in South America this one was far the best! Great stuff, clean rooms, AMAZING cocktails in the hostel bar, ability of the hostel to organize things, or invite the host to some very local events, anf the evening with the guitars at the hamakd before the season begun. Had a blast, and will always recommend 1949!

Great overall environment, the lockers in the room weren't the most secure things, even with the lock on you could pull the doors out far enough to reach inside, the pooling on the room 2 floor was also a little gross but overall an awesome hostel.

Punta is a pretty sleepy place so as long as you are prepared for that then this hostel is perfect. This place is located across the street from the beach and is very relaxing. There are hammocks out front and a real comfy lounge to chill at. The wifi is hit and miss but the breakfast is good, the staff is great, and they play real good music. There is a nice dog named Wander that lives there.
