I was able to get my key out of the box without asking. The corridor looked more like a prison. The lady at the check in made an error in the pricing, guys at breakfast weren't friendly. If you're looking for a budget place to stay, go to hostelling international in Stuart Street, in com in compagnon it

This was a n enjoyable place to stay. Close to the city and subway system as well as many of the sites in Boston.

Please clarify the description of the rooms, and that bathrooms are shared in each floor.

The place is okay, but just flat out noisy, noisy & yes more noisy. From inside the building there were a lot of noisy young people or students etc. They need to be reminded to have a little respect for the other guests. Also from inside were noises from the water pipes, when trying to adjust the water temp to a warm level, they would emit a load noise similar to a truck air horn. Then from the outside-- all the traffic noise. Better quality windows would be a good remedy for this.

Great place to stay. Highly recommended in terms of value and location. However, if you are looking for party atmosphere look elsewhere. This is not a youth hostel. You'll find all types here, ranges from families with kids to elderly to young backpackers.

40 Berkeley feels almost like a hotel if not for the fact that there are no attached washrooms that's all. There is breakfast included and the reception also gives out free cookies during the day. There is also a popcorn cart located at the far end of the lobby. The location could not have been better, being about a mile from South Station. This helped us save greatly on public transportation. The room was spacious and our triple room had 3 single beds. There weren't any bunks in our room at all

It was very good. everything was very clean bathrooms, rooms. Even though room was very clean, as soon as you enter the smell is very bad and strong. It smells like very old or a dirty sweated t-shirt. But the floor, bed, every other thing was very clean...just the smell in the room was very bad. Probably it was the old furniture?

Location is brilliant. Only in short distance is Boston Common and South Station. The breakfast was a little bit too much in oil (bacon). The atmosphere in that room was strange. You won't get the hostel-feeling, because you get each other out of the way. Maybe it's the pont that the hostel is a bigger one. It's a really professional hostel and nearly a hotel.

original room had a ceiling leak, staff were helpful in moving us. Rooms smelled kind of musty. Good breakfast service included.

I only stayed here for one night, but I would definitely consider coming back. I'm glad there was space to be social, relaxed (theater room is pretty sweet for a lazy chilly morning), or studious. Breakfast was superb, and definitely makes up for any qualms regarding price for the room

Surprising. I liked the staff, they were wonderful. The place wasn't gross or anything, very bare bones, but clean. BREAKFAST WAS GREAT!

Overall very good place to stay, short or longer term it looked like. Less of a hotel, more of a studen halls feel to it. Breakfast was great, as were Oscar night activities; near Back Bay & Prudential Tower; very good.
