We stayed at the 7 Sages Hostel for a weekend trip to Xian. We wanted to do some sightseeing. I really liked the hostel. They offered a free pick up from the railway station and therefore it was no problem to find the hostel. It is not directly in the city center, but I liked the location anyway. You just have a short distance to the railway station and there are many busses in Xian getting to all attraction. Our private room was great. I highly recommend this Hostel and would go there again!!

The food at the cafe wasn't great - particularly the breakfast and coffee. Breakfasts were very small servings and tasteless and the coffee was only half a glass! It's a fair walk to the sights but very close to the train and bus stations which is good.

Rude and unhelpful staff. Do not rely on their help or kindness if you are not planning to book one of the expensive Terracotta-Warrior tours. Apart from that a fantastic hostel - great private rooms, beautiful Chinese courtyard house, close to the train station, fantastic atmosphere. Worth the stay despite the staff!

an historic building but many negative aspects : even if the hotel is quite close to the station it's really far from main attractions, the trip to terra cotta warriors was very expensive and we had to insist on visiting the time we wanted for the price paid ( 500 yuans !), the tour guide tried to hurry all the time and his english was hardly understandable, food and drinks at the hotel were too expensive and most of employees were unpleasant especially at the bar, poor english but despise !

Lovely building with a lot of character. I would highly recommend it to others! The staff were friendly, restaurant menu is varied and translated to English, great location in walking distance to the train station and city walls.

Lovely hostel, close to the train station and the north entrance to the city walls. Helpful staff, no problems communicating via email and changing our reservation. Con is the steep price for self-service laundry.

Our tour was awful, set off an hour late, spent two hours at a shop and only 1 hour at the terracotta warriors..

The place was nice and the staff members were super friendly. We were a bit disppointed with the room, though. We booked a twin private ensuite but we ended up havea a double private ensuite. The staff couldn't do anything about it as every room was taken.

Atmosphere very pleasant in the outdoor seating areas, location is good if you want to be relatively close to the train station, friendly staff. And the grounds are unbeatable, particularly if you travel with kids: pool table, games, ping pong, lots of inner courtyards to safely play in. However, dorms are somewhat crammed, the shared bathrooms generally not too clean (and barely lit), and there was not always hot water in the dark and damp showers.

some problems to find it the first time, because the address provided was wrong, but once inside, just a wonderful living

We really enjoyed staying at this hostel. I was traveling alone with my teenage daughters and found the hostel to be a welcome retreat after touring the busy streets of Xi'an and area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the atmosphere and character of the bar/restaurant. Rooms were the cleanest of any of the hostels we had stayed. Highly recommend this hostel to others.

One of the best hostels I've ever been to. Staff - very helpful and friendly. Very nice and clean rooms. The hostel itself is an old Chinese courtyard, located near the train station. No wi fi is the only inconvenience. I'll recommed it to my friends!

Personnels très attentifs et très chaleureux. Auberge de jeunesse que l'on aimerait rencontrer tout au long de notre voyage. Sans oublier "nio-nio" Merci beaucoup.

This is a well designed hostel in the old Chinese courtyard fashion which is especially beautiful in the night when the small lights come on, giving it an ancient China feel. The bar/restaurant staff were great too. Only stay here for the "Chinese feel". But note that everything else about this place is mediocre: the front desk staff blow hot (maybe just mild) and very cold. They don't really know how to get around town (bad at geography) and they weren't helpful with planning/suggesting tours.
