If sleepless nights and charmless staff are your thing, then this place is perfect. We paid through the nose for a twin (triple) room, only to be kept awake all night by the dorm next door. There was noone on reception at night, so we had to wait til the morning to complain, but this fell on deaf ears. We only stayed 2 nights beause everywhere else was full at the weekend. Avoid if possible.

I stayed at the both hostel, YHA & 790. Cleaness: YHA, Kitchen: 790, Space: YHA is more spacious, 790's building is pretty old. Bathroom: YHA, 790 is not too bad, just need more cleaning, Staffs: 790 really friendly and helpful, always smile. YHA's staffs.. One of the female staff mistook with caclurating the payment. But no apologize. And YHA, I couldn't handle the AC, pretty cold. If you have small budget, recommend 790. Clean and spacious kitchen? YHA...

good location for travel options... train, bus, free tour.... lot of traffic is a negative. each bunk has own lockable cupboard. staff are helpful and upbeat. generally a good place to enter and depart sydney.

Nice hostel - worth the money i think. Kitchen can get full at times and this really is a party hostel so there is always people playing music and drinking at night which is grand if you dont mind that kind of thing. Definitely the worst part is the fact there is only one lift and it sucks if you are staying on the 5th, 6th or 7th floors. Staff were REALLY friendly and helped me out with any problems I had. Would recommend to a friend but not one who's looking for a super quiet hostel.

I would always book again a room in 790 on George. One of the best hostels we've been to on our trip down the East Coast.

The bathrooms aren't very clean. I stayed on the first floor and having only two showers in the female bathroom for the whole floor wasn't enough. Although the bins were emptied everyday nothing else was done in the room. There is also Scu Bar on the corner which the music kept me awake most nights.

VG location. Recently repainted. Comfortable beds/clean bedlinen. Pleasant, helpful staff. Cleaners appear to have no clear routine/training in everyday jobs to be done. Possibly insufficient time allowed. Showers/toilets not all cleaned everyday while we were there.Maintenance jobs slow in getting attention. Kitchen grossly under-equipped & too small, queues to use equipment at busy meal times. Insufficient seating for dining. Too little fridge space. No freezer.VG WiFi access. Happy atmosphere

stay was great, staff were friendly. though the 6th floor female bathrooms really need a cleaning, aswell as a bit of airfreshener in the corridors. Other than that would stay again. thanks angela
