Even though I found the hostel with not too much difficulty, I understand the comments about the hostel being hard to find. Thge map on the back of the business card is pretty clear, maybe a copy could be uploaded. Also I had to dial 5655 to get the door intercom to ring. This should be corrected as it currently says dial 55. The hostel was great, I had a good time there, the staff were friendly.
The facilities in 8th Floor were good - the only thing missing in our perspective was a vegetable peeler. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hostel itself within a walking distance from the train station. We stayed in the 10-bed dorm and the bunkbeds were comfortable and offered good privacy. There is a sign to 8th Floor Hostel from the Dzerzhinsky Street: turn left and walk the small road in the yard. Turn right and to the last door of the building. (no signs)
The hostel staff were very nice, friendly and helpful but our stay here was less than satisfactory mostly due to the fact that the hostel building was bait away from the main sights and the building was old and a bit too grungy for us. The no. of toilets and bathrooms could have been a few more given the no. of guests that were at the hostel. There seemed to be a queue for e toilets/bathrooms most of the times.
If I hadn't had a fantastic taxi driver who worked out the hostel phone number then called them I never would have found the place in the dark. But once there was welcomed warmly by Olga (who has now gone on a month's leave) and shown to the very hot 4-bed dorm. In fact the whole apartment was very hot. The other people staying there were volunteers on a course to take part in the hosting of the Winter olympics in Sochi in Feb 2014. Location was fantastic, half way between the city and train
