98sg was a great place to stay in Singapore. We loved the old man, he reminded me of my grandad. The receptionist was always available, helpful and happy. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm and there was plenty of space, and secure lockers for piece of mind. The bedrooms were individually locked as well as a main locked door, so it felt very safe. The area around the hostel also felt very safe, there were quite a few convenient shops too.

Not really a hostel, it's just a rooms with beds on the 2nd & 3rd floor above a corner shophouse. Very difficult to get the lady to check-in/check-out, as there is no reception counter but a room which the managing lady stays, that's where she works and sleeps. You get her by calling the number pasted on the door or ring the bell, but usually get no response. Key deposit required & additional 10% of your total charge, which I believe is to cover up for the commission paid to Hostelworld, unfair

Security was very poor, they issued keys but didn't lock the doors. The entrance smelled of urine. Had items stolen from our room. Was close to a MRT station but not hard considering it was Singapore.

Excellent location right next to Aljunied MRT, convenient for going to city center and exploring points of attraction. Hostel located on the 2nd floor of an old building, kinda hard to notice and nondescript, but worth the price compared to the expensive hostel scene in Singapore. The staff are alright, rooms are small but clean enough.

I left my bags, including a laptop bag, in the care of staff there, for less than an hour, while I went to book into another hostel. When I returned, I collected my bags without problems, but later, when I opened my computer bag, it was clear that somebody had opened my laptop bag. At the time, there were hardly any guests in the hostel, so I was unhappy to find that such loose security could prevail when the staff are protecting the property of only a small number of people.

Well for anyone traveling with TIGER AIRWAYS? Forget about arriving by MRT to this or any other Hostel. The Singapore MRT stop running at 11pm. It cost me $35 Singapore to get to this Hostel from the air-port. Check your time of arrival before you book your flight!

hostelworld should take action on these guys charging an extra 10% fee upon check in. hostel is nice enough. i like the geylang area - good food, lively. extremely convenient to transpot. bathrooms should be cleaner. staff a bit incompetent - locked themselves out of office twice while istayed.
