There is no atmosphere to speak of but I've stayed in at least 3 other hostels in HK and none of them offer common rooms because of lack of space so this isn't unexpected. The advantages over other hostels are the air conditioning was fast and easy to control, bed was not made of plywood, room had a TV, and since it's not in the chunking mansions you are not bombarded with mass chaos as you enter the building. On the other hand the chunking mansions has great Indian food.

Before I came to the hostel I asked for directions as on their hostel world page their directions were useless. When I contacted the hostel they were very unhelpful. Also the hostel did't have any lockers so there was no security for my valuable items.

The staff was really nice. The room had no window and only one really strong light (so if we wanted to have a smaller light, we put a towel over the TV), but still, good value for the price.

5 girls unfortunately placed in a 5 bed room which consisted of a single & double bunk beds. One of the bunk beds was broken so two girls shared a single bed. Showerhead was over the toilet in a tiny toilet cubicle. We had to open what looked like two jail cell doors to get to our room while our other friends stayed in much nicer rooms which were actual hostel rooms. Overpriced for what we got. The office couldn't help us with directions.. Overall we managed & loved HK all the same.
