Definately definately definately stay here. Aside from the amazing location and great atmosphere the staff at the fish are the best I have come across.

Great hostel for backbackers travelling alone! Chris and Zack are really helpfull and make an excellent young atmosphere to meet new people. Don't miss the free diner at 7PM every night! Definitively would recommend it to my friend and go back in the future

I love the free dinner. You should add the hostel name at the front of the door cause there was no sign for venice fish even at the front door.

This is the strangest hostel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are huge and empty with beds that are added as people come and go. The staff are considerably wierd, Chris, the manager is an English punk with an alcoholic problem, constantly nagging people to play drinking games and go to the pub with him. Zach, a 16year old boy does all the work and is very angsty. What made my stay there was the fellow guests. I met some excellent people and we had a great time. Cold showers, good location.

Make sure you print the direction to the place, since it's not easy to find. They charge you for everything, bed lines are 3 euros, sheets for the bed 2 euros (if you don't have it, you sleep with direct skin contact with the duvet), if you want to leave the luggage after your stay in the lock room, they charge you 5 € for that, cleaness was poor, no heaters in Jan, I freezed my ass off during the night. If you are not single traveller, you'll better off if you go to a bed and breakfast.

Great hostel! Staff is really helpful and fun. Free dinner, which is a big plus, and some tea if you want in the morning. They also have a lockout for cleaning from 10am to 2pm, but it's ok since most likely you will be walking around the city. However, it doesn't have a kitchen and the rooms are big rooms for lots of people, so it can get a little cold. Would recommend, had a great time!

The hostel is very average. If you're looking to stay for one night, it will be fine. It doesn't have a TV, a bit dark, no tourist brochures or where to go and no guest kitchen. All you do at night is sit at the table and pray that someone will talk to you. You have to pay for everything even if you want to leave your luggage in the storage room. It cost 5 euros to store your luggage. I am probably not going to stay there again. Also, it took me a while to find that hostel.

Wasn't expecting much for the price - especially in Venice - but was pleasantly surprised. It is relatively clean, but a bit on the cold side. At 7pm they have a free dinner which means that you meet everyone in the hostel. And after that the fun starts. We weren't drinking but it was entertaining to watch the games and a great way to meet everyone. Note: when they say lockout is at 10:30, they mean it. Staying there made our trip to Venice quite fun.

1. Unproffesional staff, we get that its suppose to have a 'casual cool vibe' BUT that only works when the buisness side of things is efficient and professional. The staff were casual to the point of lazy. I felt like i was crashing their holiday. Yes, its nice to socialize and get friendly with the staff but there has to be balance. 2. Toilet flooded everyday, a bathmat would do wonders.

Nice atmosphere, affordable place for Venice and quite a good location too. Just make sure to read all the details offered about their additional costs, directions and stuff.

Awesome free dinner! Venice nightlife is not the best one so you really depend on other travelers to have some fun. And because of the free dinner, you can easily meet people and drink with them. Oh...Chris is a funny guy that contributes a lot to create a nice (and alcoholic) atmosphere.

The hostal was annoying to get to since I had a lot of luggage with me but that will be true for any place you stay at in venice. The bridges are full of steps and are no joke. The hostal was social and the free dinner (which is always pasta) is nice to have but what was awful were the mattresses. There was no wooden board to support the mattress. Just mattress and springs. This meant that whenever you lay down your body sinks. There are some mattresses that are better but thats if u are lucky

At first I didn't like this hostel when I checked in, as the owner announced the rules like a camp. Then when I talked to him, he was quite funny and kind. Through conversation I knew the reason why the hostel was quite "secret" - quite considerate for the guests. Nice location - 2 minutes to a big supermarket, 10 meters from crowds but very quite. Very safe - staff will check every time I rang the bell. But be patient for toilets - very nice toilet though.

My cousin and I had a great time at A Venice Fish! The staff was fantastic and made the atmosphere fun and welcoming. Definitely come here if you want to meet other travellers and enjoy some free pasta dinner. I'll definitely stay here again if I ever make it back to Venice.

Those are nice british folks. There were definitely no bed bug cases when I was there. If you chose venice bec of some decadence, this is the authentic place for you to stay. It's a rather big house surrounded by a water channel and it has its own bridge. Very stylish

If all you need is a place to rest your head that's not too expensive, then this is the place to stay. Only two bathrooms, yes. Not super clean but not super dirty. You only get one sheet. But honestly, you can make do. GREAT location, friendly staff, delicious (Free!) pasta dinner, interesting people to meet. The party atmosphere was pretty chill, which was great. If I stay in Venice I'm staying here again.
