The room which I was in smelt of sewage. When I mentioned this to reception I was met with a very sour faced male who said 'really are you sure', who then said 'never mind'. The shower in the bathroom had dirty marks round it which was a bit disturbing. I also think that charging someone using a credit card to pay an extra fee of 2.50 euros is disgusting and that there was not even bed linen included in the overall price. I shall definitely not stay at another A

It felt a bit unsafe to have random characters coming and going to and from the hostel; I didn't get the impression they were actually staying there; mainly, they were spending time smoking just under the big signs saying "Rauchen verboten". Some of the staff might have had a bad day, as I didn't really feel welcome. I was just quickly and efficiently being dealt with, whereafter the guy at the counter just left without a word. What happened to "Welcome!"?

Great place, very confortable place and the staff is really nice. Internet free wi fii was not working good

Very nice chain hostel. I partially liked it because it felt very much like a hotel with extra beds and that was comforting since I was alone and I'm new to the hostel game. Bathroom are in each room, which is nice and helps keep them clean. Bathrooms are really small however, and the hostel is between a train track and a highway, which kept a dull rumble going all night (being from Atlanta, I didn't mind). All in all, I would stay in an A&O Hostel again

We stayed only for one night, so we cannot say much about the place. On the whole, everything was working and looked new. The shower and the toilet inside the dorm room were clean. The curtain in front of the window was however practically transparent, so the room bathed in light in the morning. Besides, there was a noisy roadway nearby. Btw, the railway station is not so close to the hostel as you might imagine.

about staff very mixed: I was vagely pointed to the elevator I was told to turn right outside. I couldn't find it and returned twice to the desk until the third time the person made an effort to actually go with me to show me (it wasn't busy at the time) someone different: I couln't manage to open my door, the red light flashed instead of the green. The person this time, a girl, offered to go upstairs with me

I had a 4 bed dorm to myself because no else was there. Their breakfast is decent, on par with other hostels. It's fairly close to the central train station, but there didn't seem to be much around the hostel itself. Interesting assortment of people staying here.

Please try to improve the wireless internet connection. It functions only half the time. Probably there is interference with other wireless devices. Usually the solution is only a matter of changing the broadcasting signal on the router.

It was the worse hostel i have ever been in Hamburg. The internet never works well, the staff isn't nice (and i shouldn't say this but they drink alcohol while working at night). The breakfast is expensive if you compare to the Hostels and there is nothing different in it. It was my first and last time in A&O Hostel. Think twice before choosing it.

Great Hostel, at the border of the city center. Nice staff, a in-house bar and other good facilities. Good breakfast (could be cheaper). We had a great stay. Would defenitily go there again.

We stayed as a school group and couldn't fault the place. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful and accomodating.

I had a great experience in this hostel: my booking went lost but the staff was great and put great efforts into making a new booking and apologising - special thanks to Hannah, the blonde girl at the till that night. The hostel has a nice atmosphere and is very central.. The only minus point is the lack of a kitchen for travellers to cook their own food.

If breakfast were included, it would be perfect!

Fast and efficient service.About 10 minute walking distance to main train station. Clean, modern and very reasonably priced.Unfortunately, room was not adequately heated.

The hostel itself didn't really have any atmosphere and most of the staff was really unkind and unhelpful (though not all). The location is horrible, you have to pass what seems like a highway to get there. However, it's close to the train station, and the rooms are excellent. The cleanliness is great, towels and linen are included, and the duvet is actually warm! Definitely an excellent place if you're looking for something worth the money. Definitely be going there again if I go to Hamburg (:
