At this price, I didn't expect much, and the room itself was fine. The location wasn't great, but didn't feel dangerous to me. I am more concerned that there were several errors in the reservation; this motel doesn't seem to communicate with hostelworld or honor their prices.

A typical motel experience.

Warning: avoid this one. Not a hostel - it's a below-average-quality motel. The location is pretty good in terms of access to the MAX line, but doesn't feel safe - and there's not real locks. The "beds" that you reserve are actually "spots in a bed," so I would have had to share a king mattress with my friend if not for some luck, extra money, and negotiation. The price was fairly reasonable, but in the end due to aforementioned bed issue, wound up costing nearly half again the advertised price.

The staff could be more friendly and helpful. The evening staff were borderline rude. If not for a single morning staff, I would have graded very poor.

Anyone looking for a more intimate hostel environment where they can mingle with other travelers may be disappointed since this is basically just a motel, however the price was great and the facilities were great. It was a nice place to stay to see Portland and in a good part of town with restaurants and a Trimet transit hub all within walking distance.
