Actually I hoped for better things. But was a little bit disappointed especially after I\'d stayed in some other hostels around US. Although for the unknown reason I was upgraded to the double suite instead of previously ordered 8-Bed Dorm for the same price. That was nice) Although it was located right next to the washing machine which was operated daily mainly before my sleep( The worst thing was no breakfast aside from coffee\\tea plus pancakes \'to-be-done-by-me\' for which I didn\'t have time(

I spent a week at this hostel and absolutly loved it. Tatiyana and Mike are amazing hosts. All the people that stayed there were fun, there always bbqing and socializing going outside. I had a wonderful time and would go back. This hostel is for backpackers, so if you are not use to that type of environment, it is probrably not for you.

The Bourbon House was more than a place to stay, it was an experience! Friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere, good location (walking distance to a lot of attractions), great mix of guests. Great value. Can\'t wait to go back! Shout out to Mike and Tatiana for being great staff.

Good value for the money. Tatiana at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I've stayed here twice. The rooms in the main building are nicer but can be noisy. The other rooms are quiet but are damp and have no windows. The kitchen is clean and well equipped.

My trip to New Orleans could have ended up being just fine with me staying at a local hotel or guest house. However, I am a staunch believer that surrounding oneself with the proper company can enhance an already great experience into something transcendent. In this regard, the folks at the AAE Bourbon House knocked it out of the park. Without going into the minutia of the details as far as the basics go (which were all taken care of swimmingly), the true charm of this place came from the atmosphere of

Really fun staff! Met some great people. Showers could be cleaner and saw a few cockroaches but hey it's the south

This past weekend I had stayed at the AAE Bourbon House Hostel...after reading some previous posts, I was a bit nervous about the conditions of the hostel... As soon as I walked into the place I knew that either some people had made some unbelievable mistakes or that they are spoiled children who have never stayed in a hostel... Let me give you a couple of good reasons why this is the hostel to stay in... First off... Yes the area is far from Canal St/French Quarter...guess what??? You are

Really great stay, lovely staff and really relaxed crowd. I had a wonderful stay, the area is a little sketchy though, but if you walk up to Magazine street it's all good!

Very helpful staff, great location for the Garden District and Walmart. A bit far from the quarter and a 10 minute walk to the Street car. Ventilation would be greatly appreciated since it tends to get stuffy and more reliable internet. However, great value for money and you can't beat their shuttle service to greyhound/amtrak and the airport.

What was suppposed to be a 6 dorm bedroom was actually a 8 bed dorm. Price was okay, but smelled... too many people in so little space (or too little ventilation). I had to watch out the 9C bed because it was easy to get knocked out by the rotating ceiling fan... The restrooms at the back was not well ventilated and smelt mold... but we had plenty of hot water for the shower so that was appreciated. I would like to pay 2$ more and have a better breakfast than pancakes each day

Hostel is a social hub for large groups of Americans. A religious group of 20 schoolkids dominated the hostel and all its facilties including common room and kitchen equipment. Amidst all the preaching about life/religion and Obama we couldn't find anywhere to eat our food. Their homeworks sessions were so spread out we had to eat off our pillows in the bedroom. The location is v poor. As a travelling couple looking to meet others in a central location this hostel offers precisely the opposite!!

We had a pleasant stay at this hostel last week. The rooms were very large and the kitchen was very clean. The location was in a central location, though required long walks to get certain places (14 blocks to the French Quarter.) -The office never seemed to be open. -There were many annoying little fees. These were not always clearly stated or posted, then randomly enforced. -Showers were kept reasonably clean, but there was simply too many people for two showers.

No storage for large backpacks in rooms, rooms not cleaned regularly (old old items left on shelves) bathrooms not cleaned well enough and the kitchen had one fridge with mould growing on the bottom. Breakfast was only make your own pancakes, no free coffee except in mornings. So many facilities that need to be fixed. Tiny common area. Staff mixed my beds up and i had random people steal my bed. Very annoying!
