Amir, Alan & Ula were incredibly helpful! All three gave plenty of recommendations for things to do in NOLA. Will definitely stay here again if I can make another trip.

Loved this place! The location in the Garden District is convenient to nearby bus routes and a Wal-Mart. The Garden District is artsy and has a lot of little shops and restaurants. The French Quarter is a 25 minute walk or a 10-minute bus ride. The hostel employees we remember by name--Ali, Alan, Ula--along with the other employees we met were helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The only complaint is that other guests were inconsiderate and made noise, but that happens at any hostel. :)

Very good hostel. Nice outdoor patio area, good kitchen, and free pancake breakfasts every morning are great! Location is good, but not great, a short walk from a nice stretch of Magazine St. and a 25-minute walk from the French Quarter. It is very crowded, and hard to find bathrooms during peak morning and evening hours. Our room was also a bit packed. Overall, good experience though.

This place is great. I love the homey feeling of the hostel, and the pancakes for breakfast are a great touch. Kelly did a great job of getting us checked in and settled, and Ula was wonderful in the day time with making sure everyone was having a good time. I really like the staff and the value for the money here.

Staff were very kind to provide transportation to and from the bus station. Pancakes were good but would have appreciated more options for breakfast! Thank you:)

The rooms are really but really small. Watch out also because if you stayed at others hostels they might refuse you because they are scared about you bringing bed bugs. Keep that in mind because we almost lost of reservation that way. Anyways great place to stay.

I don't think I could have had a better first experience with staying at a hostel. As a woman, I never felt at risk for anything which is a big concern when traveling, and every other woman there seemed to feel the same. The staff was especially helpful. If they didn't know something, they worked with you until they figured it out. I saw Allen the most out of all of the staff, and he definitely made everyone feel exceedingly welcome and at home. He was personable and respectful. Great employee!

Friendly staff and cleaner rooms than most hostels I've been to, although the bathrooms could have been cleaner. Fridge was a convenient touch for storing leftovers. Definitely recommended!

Jason was very helpful. A notice board for guests to write to each other would be ace.

The light is too dark in the bedroom and the floor is not very clean. However, staff is helpful and nice. The bus on Magazine Street is only one per one hour at night, which is a little inconvenient.

It's a good time in AAE hostel, especially the staff is very excellent. Jason, Kelly and a girl I forgot ask her name, all of them are nice and do a lot of favor to me since I can't speak English well. Appreciate their kindness, I will remember the time there.

Nice hostel, very friendly staff- Uhla was especially great! There's a good outdoor courtyard to hang out in, clean facilities, and plenty of coffee. The only downside I can think of would be there's only 2 showers, and there can be a bit of a wait.

Only drawback was a fan in the bathroom next door which was constantly switched on. Apart from being very loud this is not really energy-efficient. Some staff were very helpful and friendly, others made us feel like we're a disturbance. The free breakfast was a cup of pancake batter, some coffee and a few tea bags. So, technically correct but not very service-oriented.

This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Jason is amazing and does a great job of bringing people together and encouraging conversation. I travelled alone and was never without someone to talk to. Highly recommended.
