DO NOT stay here unless you have a car! It is not in San DIego! We arrived at the airport to be told it is at least a 20min drive out of the city! We called to cancel our booking at stayed somewhere else in the city- very disappointed with hostelworld regarding this. We had never been to San Diego so did not know the best places to stay or how large the city was.
Very far from the city. Stay only if u have a car
Quite convenient if you've got a car to go to San Diego (an approximately 20-minute-drive) Room is quite old and smelly (even though it was a non-smoking one...) Breakfast...awful!
It's only an Inn, no Hostel, you need a car to get to San Diego (about 20min)

The price was really worth it, considering the cleanliness and organization of the place. It is not close to downtown San Diego, however there are outlet stores and a Starbucks right across the street.
We had some diffculties with our reservation, but we received a personal apology from the general manager and a compensation. We truly appreciate the remarkable customer service.
Travelin on a budget through California by car, so we did not mind the 20miles to Downtown San Diego! Place felt safe, more than enough parking spaces and, most important: clean! Of course, the rooms are a little run down, but it was not at all "disgusting" or "pest infested". Fridge, TV, safe (!). It was all there. When you used to backback in other countries, this feels like a spa resort! It is all a matter of perspective! ;)
they should open the windows and let some fresh air in. the first night in our room the smell was unbelievable, a mixture between dog and smoke, really ugly!!! the cover of the bed has not seen a washing machine for a minimum of one year and the smell was even worse!! oilett-flush was not working! we told them, but they haven't been able to repair it... recepiton stuff doesn't speek good english, you hardly can understeand them....
Good location and staff very nice, if you want to cancel on night, they will refund you for sur, very good !!
We thought it was closer to San Diego, no getting there without taking the car. We arrived late and there was no problem with booking in at 1:30am, that was great. great for the price, not recommended if you want to meet people and/or join a group (this is not a hostel) recommended.
there was hair under my pillow. the sheets didnt look like they had been washed, but overall not too bad. For the price, it's not a bad place to stay
do not exist! We were able to book it, but when we came down there it was no hostel!!
This really is not like a hostel. Truly, this is a Travel Lodge. We had a very nice stay, but our bathroom did stink very badly of mold, so I recommend bringing an air freshner and lysol. Other than that, it was a very nice room with LOTS of space!
really need a car.. but beside that you get much for that little money
Located outside of San Diego so if you don't have a car it would be difficult to get around. However large and clean room with a fridge, microwave & TV. Free breakfast. Swimming pool available if you have time to use it.
First of all, this is not a hostel; it is a motel. Secondly, the room was very hot when we got there that it was suffocating and it took 24 hrs to feel fresh indoors. We also saw some jumping bugs in the room, but we weren't sure if they were cockroaches, or bedbugs. Consequently, it wasn't easy to fall as sleep feeling safe and tranquil. Finally the free breakfast time table ends so early (9:30am) that it wasn't possible to have any. We wish they had a better service
This is more a hotel than a hostel, or rather a motel. There is no common room. It is more a place in order to have a good sleeep before exploring SD. It is located in the city of El Cajon next to San Diego. It was hidden in their directions so i had to ring them to ask for the city in order to put it in the GPS. As well it was called in fact Travel Lodge. The staff is very nice and very helpful. They can advise you what to visit. The breakfast was excellent! Free wifi! (not too fast though)
