After paying my deposit on line I as told that I couldn't stay at the hostel because I had an in state drivers license. I showed up and was told that even though I had a reservation in a dorm I could only stay in a private room for $50 more than my reservation agreement. This was catch was buried in the terms and conditions so I guess it's my fault, but I the website didn't have any objections to me making the reservation, so I have to say it was bullshit.

The facilities were excellent, and at very good value. The mixed 6 bedroom was clean and comfortable and had many amenities- kitchen, tv, small living room area, bathrooms. It was quiet and in a pleasant area, walking distance to many downtown sights and shops.

This is actually a motel, not a hostel, but is still great value for money. The location is fantasitc, right next to Portland State University. Someone is at the desk all night, but they didn't check ID or keys (hence why I ranked it lower for security), it might've just been because it was a quiet week, in busier times, they may be more strict. The room was huge and clean and had a fridge and microwave. I loved my time in Portland and would stay here again!

If you're looking for a cheap, convenient place to sleep while staying in Portland - this is all you need! Friendly staff, only downside is having the bathroom located in the room because the fan and hair dryer and whatnot may wake up other sleeping guests depending on sleep schedules. And ours was stinky - so they could work on that! Overall, it did the job.

Excellent location - within walking distance to many downtown attractions and anywhere in general (Portland is really small). Staff leaves much to be desired. Shower was not working initially, but was fixed the next day.

There was hair in tub and on the floor in the bathroom. The tv only got 3 channels. The doors had paint spatter on them and look bad.

Location is unbeatable. Not the nicest of places and initially will smell a little musky, but again...you can't lose with this location.

It was pretty clear that they were not busy when I booked my room the day before I planned to go to Portland for a quick trip. Unfortunately a cancelled flight prevented me from getting there. I called them first thing in the morning and pleaded my case, to either give me a portion of my money back or at least let me apply it to a different night. The person I talked to was unhelpful, unsympathetic and gave me a wrong number to call someone else. When I called back she didn't pick up.

After traveling from Seattle to Portland, the staff told me I was "too old" to stay in their hostel room. Instead they offered me $5 off their regular rooms, which just brought their price down to what I could find at other low-quality hotels in Portland. I was calm, polite, and reasonable, but they made no effort to keep my business at all. I do not recommend this place.

We booked dorm beds but were instead given queen beds to share in a private room. While having your own room, TV, fridge and bathroom for $25/night each is a pretty sweet deal, being forced to share a queen bed with an acquaintance is not ok. This place needs to realise that not everyone who books dorms together are best friends or couples. Otherwise the place was fine. I would suggest they take the queen beds out of 1 room and replace them with 4 bunks.

Good location but had nothing else going for it. Staff was unhelpful and the bathroom smells like pee.

I really like this place! There were a bunch of fun people that ended up staying there with us, it was also really cool that it had a kitchen area & tv. There are lockers for you to use if you bring your own padlock, I felt very safe there and I felt safe leaving my stuff there. If you have something you are really worried about, you can leave it up front. The location was awesome and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

I was having a great time. They forgot to tell me when the check out time was, so I am awaken by a call telling me I have 15 minutes to get out of my room. Thats not very good service quality at all.

Great location, near downtown with access to all public transportation to further destinations. Cheap place though, bare minimum facilities.

Great hostel. The dorm-room was the best I've seen. I very much appreciated the fresh towels and toiletries each day and the free parking in private parkIng garage. I've stayed in three other hostels and do not have high expectations, so I was very surprised by how nice the dorm room was. I would definately say this was the best dorm room I have stayed in.
