Only 2 bathrooms per floor with no supplied towels means the floors are constantly soaked and black mold on the walls and ceiling is visible. My room's floor was covered with loose clothing and garbage; I grinned and bore it, but the next guest to arrive complained. The staff had the nerve to blame the smell on the clean shoes I had sitting under my bed. When I offered him a sniff, he changed tactics and woke a sleeping patron, asking him to clean somebody else's mess. Unbelievable rudeness.

Me and my friend stayed there for 2 nights in double private room. The room was small, no closet in, we could hear everything on the corridor and some talking from other rooms. Didn't expect much for this price - $25 night per person however it was clean, front desk guys were nice and helpful. Good location just some homeless walking around , 10 min walk to downtown. Would recommend that for short time

I only used this place to sleep so cant comment on the activities. The bunk beds were very noisy so people wake up everytime you move. The location also scared me. Apart from that the staff were friendly and the hostel was the right price for what i needed

I had a reasonably comfortable stay and both Andy and Sam were ever-willing to help out with anything that I needed. Plus the place looks much better since I first stayed here a few years ago. The only complaint I have is over the cleanliness aspect; people dirty up both the kitchen and the bathrooms without penalty. I would not be averse to having inspections and then fining the offenders heavily for inconveniencing others.

It was cold there due to repairs going on. The showers were not as good as at other hostels. The private room for two was a double bed rather than bunk bed and the room was too small and no place to hang things or put things.

The staff was very helpful and gave me information and tips about the city of San Francisco. I know it's a cheap hotel. It's hard to sleep well since you can hear people next door or walking in the hallways and even mattresses noise. Bathroom is shared so you have to wait for your turn and you need to go so bad, you got to hold it and ruin your bladder. There are useful regulations regarding the use of the kitchen. Smart way to keep the place clean.

Very nice place, people say area is bad because of homeless population, but we had friends staying 10 mins north from here and that area of San Fran is so much worse. Had a great stay and would recommend for value for money

THe room was very dirty. There were just one bathroom on each floor and everytime we wanted to use it there was somebody in there. The hostel is very close to market street , just 2 blocks but the neirghbouhood was very poor. There were a lot of homeless people. I know that Califonia is Known for that. Homeless people go there becase of the weather. But we think that all of them were in that area. ALso we think that it was expensive for what it was.

Good hostel, great value for money. Location could be better but since it is near Market Street it is easy to get around town. The staff is nice and helpfull and the showers are great. Stayed for 9 days and i can not really complain about anything.

Like in European Cities, San Francisco lodging and buildings are old, but it doesn't mean they are bad! The place is under refurbishing and reconstruction. My point is It's closer to old then to dirty. Great staff, available and they have everything... even an iron :) The only thing I advise is to clean the bathrooms as often as the kitchen. The staff and location are clean! BUT the guests/clients are careless, dirty and loud. I feel sorry for the place and staff members!!! Cool place if not!

I know you guys are renovating, so I'll cut you some slack. I enjoyed my stay & will recommend your establishment to friends, but you guys need to exhibit a little more TLC toward your facilities. Get into all your rooms & clean them from time to time. Some of your bunks need service. Consider pulling out all the carpet and go hardwood / tile. Bathrooms need more attention. Change your mop heads & water more often. Provide linens & towels for a deposit - theyll be returned / cleaner more often.

Good value stay, they are doing some upgrades to the rooftop & office so it will definitely Be even better. Lockers could be larger but the service & price makes up for it. Where else in the city can you find beds for $16? I will definitely come back again to enjoy the rooftop.

I had a great stay & worth the cheap rate. Place is clean & staff is very friendly. The hostel is small but well worth the money. Don't rent a car here because parking is expensive in the city & the public transportation is very good & is just 2 blocks from the hostel. Will definitely come back! and refer them to every one who wants to see San Francisco and live at affordable place.

Staff was awesome & helped me plan my trip with directions & things to do already printed out @ the office. I loved the free WIFI & free computer usage. It's nice that the kitchen is open 24 hrs so I can eat late night. There are homeless people everywhere in city but felt very safe at the hostel. Rooms & kitchen & bathrooms were very clean but some rude guests would make big messes & break things without cleaning up. This was the cheapest rates in city & well worth the money for the hostel!

Very cheap and affordable hostel. It is a few blocks from public transportation to take you to all over the city. The hostel is small but very comfortable. I felt very safe inside the hostel and the staff was great about pointing out the areas to avoid. This place has the cheapest rates and a great deal for staying in San Francisco, don't expect Hilton service and you wont be dissappointed. You get what you pay for.
