It was quite expensive but nice and out of the way.

AJ's house is far from the main strip of Langkawi. It's about a twenty minute drive (RM 30 taxi) to get into town. We had cockroaches and mould in our room. There were no locks on the doors and the owner was hardly there, no staff, so we did not feel secure. Would not recommend.

Very simple accommodation. The room was clean, but the shared bathroom is really poor. It is far away from a beach (yhere is no beach at the sea side next to the hostel.

Although the staff were very nice and welcoming the hostel itself was not very clean. The room had many bugs in it and It was in the middle of nowhere.

We were given a small double bed and a single bed when we had booked a 3 bed family room. Receptionist didn't really seem to be bothered with anything. Looking at the map and the location, we then realized we were a twenty minute taxi ride from the main beaches of Langkawi. Discussing our options, bad location, bad service, no facilities, very unclean and definitely not worth staying in.

One thing that I didn't realize about Langkawi is that you do NOT need to book your room in advance. The location of the hostel is AWFUL. You must take a taxi (which is expensive) in order to get to the main area. It was not clean and I woke up to bugs crawling of my face and in the bed. Don't stay here.

Out of the tourist bustle in a great part of Langkawi north of the airport. Tucked in with locals with a view of the water from the upstairs balcony, AJ's stands head and shoulders above other hotels if you want the real Lankawi. We got scooters from the laundromat around the corner for less than RM30 per day. They worked great and we were able to get anywhere on the island quickly and safely.

The staff who welcome us is very nice n thoughtful! Everything is good. Hot shower, iced beer and snacks are a/v in house. However, one bad thing is MOSQUITO! Due to absent of air conditioners, there are many Mosquitos! They bit us whole night and we can't sleep.

The price was a bit too high, given that no free air-con was provided in the room.

We had booked 2 nights in AJ´s Guesthouse. But we liked that much and extended our stay for all in all 7 nights. The staff is very nice and helpful and you feel very welcome there. If you want to have a great nightlife this isn´t the place to be for that. But if you want to relax and enjoy the beaches or drink a beer (2 ringits!!!) on the terrace it´s the best place on langkawi. There is a nice restaurant and a very nice scooter-rental next to it. Have fun!

Antje was very helpful advising us where to go and what to do. The rooms are clean and the shared bathroom is fairly clean as well, save for the buzzing of a few mosquitoes. When coming from the jetty, the drivers may not know exactly where this place is and according to google maps it's located on Jalan Pantai Kok. Key in the neighbouring hostel Tidoq Inn for the exact location of AJ's. AJ's is right next door.

Angie, the western woman who care about this place is so kind and helpful... Anything you need, any question you have about Langkawi she will try to help you... The place is reeally clean... you will have to rent a motorbike (about 30rgt per day)to reach the interesting places of Langkawi... With a motorbike, this place become very central..
