The staff at this hostel were amazing. The rooms very very clean and I had the best nights sleep I've had in a long time, the bed was so comfy. It's in a great location too. I was really impressed with the bathrooms too. Top marks.

The major problem I found were the sleeping facilities, the pillow was flat as a pancake and the mattress uncomfortable (an area that could do with improving as I have stopped at other hostels where the sleeping facilities where excellent). The room I was stopping in had alot of condensation, as I found my clothes damp/very cold the following morning. I would like to add the hostel staff were very helpful and patient and welcoming. The vegetarian restaurant was amazing.

A one night stay in a pretty good location. Just a short walk from the Intercity bus depot. 9/10 for this stay. No alcoholics either!

This was by far the cleanest and most charming hostel I've been to yet. I also loved the Vegitarian restaurant downstairs. Good food and relaxing environment all around.

The staff were very helpful, the place is clean and tidy. The pillows provided were so small there wasn't really much point in providing them.

Definitely not enough sockets in the rooms to charge your devices.

Nice hostel with very friendly manager. The kitchen was great but we opted for dinner in the little restaurant in the basement which was brilliant - one of the best meals out we've had in NZ. We would definitely recommend this hostel to others.

A great place for those looking for something with character and central. The vegetarian cafe/bar is excellent, the rooms and common areas clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. Will definitely stay again next time I'm in Nelson.

Nice hostel, with good location close to the main drag. Not enough power sockets in the bedrooms, and the Internet is limited. Staff are good on the whole but they are not helpful when it comes to booking a trip (say to Abel Tasman) requiring you to visit their payphone. Otherwise, it's clean and has the feel of a large country house. There is a bar at the bottom of the house with regular live music although most people down there are not staying at the hostel.

Good hostel, good location and good reception (very friendly). Unfortunately I spent bad nights because some girls whose was speaking loud at 3:00AM. I understand the idea about the timer for the shower and toilets, but I think it's not useful in particular for the shower without windows.

My stay was overall good. However the bottom sheets should be changed, as you can feel how old they are. The windows could have mosquitos nets as when sleeping with 6 other people, it is important that the window remains open. The is a hair dryer in the bathroom that doesnot work and the "free breakfast" could improve a little bit or just don't offer it!

Helpful and friendly staff - the receptionist rang the bus company and organised a pick up from the hostel so I didn't have to walk to the main pick up point :) Clean bathrooms and showers - only downside was the light that turns off every 15 minutes - you need to reset the timer by pressing the button by the door. Didn't eat in the cafe but the food looked and smelt amazing! Great outdoor area + lots of seating inside, next to kitchen. They could do with more cutlery though.

Wow! great hostel, traditional building, helpful staff (and good looking - April). The cafe' downstairs serve the best food in town plus some live music performance (Amiria Grenell) that was one of the highlight of the trip.

I love the location and place. Staff were very friendly and rooms were very nice. This was my first time in a hostel ever and I would totally based on my experience be back. However for paying almost $30 per night they should put less people per room and offer boys only since its weird to sleep on boxers when a girl is present.
