Ace Backpackers Youth Hostel Reviews

They recently rennovated but failed to mention this on the website - no shared kitchen or pool table. They have managed to turn it into a low budget hotel as opposed to a hostel which means that there is no atmosphere at all. We booked a private double room but on arrival they tried to put us into a 4bed dorm, with only us in it. We didn't pay extra to sleep in bunk beds. They also charge for leaving bags there after checkout! Excluding the manager, staff are very friendly. Poor value for money

Top place to stay, would stay again! Thomas was a great help with day tours and other things to do. Has very good English as well which helps with being in rio. The breakfast was nice as well with plenty on offer to choose from.

Terrible management. We booked for 2 nights, but they tried to kick us out on the 2nd night as they had four beds in the room and wanted more money. We arrived back at midnight and they claimed we hadn't booked for the second night so they were throwing us out on the street. We had to negociate and plead with them for another room. Also, on the first night we came back to our room with builders inside it finishing refurbishments. The management had no concern for security whatsoever.

Very cool people working there, but in the room the beds had too small separations and the shower water is just on cold.

Very safe and my room mates where respectful (both depends on the people booking the beds, so the experience may vary, but all of them I got to know where especially good people). The staff is nice, although not everybody speaks English. Still they all were helpful and wanted the best. They will for example book you a taxi to the airport for a fixed price (mine didn't show up in the end! Hardly the fault of the hostel though. In the end the night doorman got a taxi and negotiated the price)

juz location is good. hv many staff but only2people nice and speak english other staff very bad an wifi too badddd always hv problem and dnt hv signal in room and toilet in room very dirtyy and dorm room too small for 6beds its very badddd hotel i dnt want come back this hotel anymore

our four bed room was a bit to small but apart from that everything was fine. the staff at ace hostel is very friendly and helpful!!!

It's a very nice place, in a very good location, with excellent staff. Too expensive for a hostel though... They also need to update their info on prices and tours, but they do appreciate it a lot when you tll them. Very recommendable place to stay. Keep up the good works, guys!

We absolutely LOVED Ace!! The atmosphere and staff were great! Everyone was always willing to help and answer any questions! Even though the hostel was under renovations, it was always cleaned and organized! Close to many bars, restaurants, supermakerts and a few meters away from the tube, we considered the location to be PERFECT! A great view from the commum area balcony where you can see Christ the Reedemer and the Sugar Loaf!! 24h front desk service gave us peace of mind! I would def go back!
