This is an absolutely amazing hostel. It is in a gorgeous historical building, located close to the train station and a short walk to the historic center of York. We stayed in a private room, which was definitely on par with a budget hotel room (even had tea/coffee and a small TV!). The dorm room we saw also looked nice. We received excellent service at the reception. The hostel has a nice-looking bar and a small games room. Breakfast was mediocre, but I don't complain about free food.

This was the nicest looking hostel I've stayed in so far. Rooms were very large and dining room was as well. Staff was friendly and helpful and always at the front desk. It was a bit cold in the rooms though, but I'm sure it was because of the large windows

We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. If there were problems, the staff were onto it straight away. We would recommend Ace York to our friends. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable as well as being friendly. Our ages range from 15 to 63 (there were 5 of us) so it suits a cross-section of the population. We had trouble width plumbing, but staff promptly responded. The location means that you do not have to have transport at all around York, and it is just a short walk from the station.

The duvet and pillow is not clean. Even the covers are fine, but it disappoints you when you see them.

Very charming hostel, clean and nice. Not enough showers I think (one per room, but when we're 10, that can be a problem), with 2 extra out of the rooms. Nothing else to say. The location is not far from the train station or the city centre, and the street is pretty busy with pubs and clubs, although the hostel is quiet at night, so perfect !

Great Character, but not a very social hostel for a lone traveler.

The interior looked amazing but the rooms were rather standard. I stayed in a 10-bed dorm, the room was big but very noisy as we had air conditioning/heating next to our room. It was extremely loud and very annoying. We were just two people in the room so it was okay as we just had one tiny bathroom with a toilet and shower. I imagine that it must be horrible if the room is booked! The atmosphere of the hostel wasn't very great but this definitely depends on the people there.

Good hostel, great staff. Key cards were not working when I visited which was a slight concern. Noise from the club out the back but who comes to a hostel without earplugs?!

room was ok for a family room! value for money! however if you stay in room 15 and it sounds like you are sleeping at heathrow airport it will be the extractor fan in the communal bathroom next door! took us till 5am to realise what the noise was! good jov i can sleep through an earthquake! not sure about the rest of the family!

Would definitely stay here again. Historic building made into a hostel, little signs with stories everywhere. Big enough rooms, clean, etc. Free breakfast included (fruits, cereal, croissant, toast, juice, milk) & free WIFI but only downstairs apparently. Nice staff. Was only like a 5 minute walk into the town centre. Had no complaints!!

There were stains on the walls, the beds were dirty and we could not sleep due to loud base music coming from a nightclub next door. Have stayed in and loved many hostels but would NEVER go back to this one.
