This place is definitely a good place to stay. It is very well organised, staff are friendly, good location and has its unique atmosphere. It is clean, also has some special activities planned on each day like the walking tour, wine tasting etc. I will definitely go back for this one. great value.

Awesome hostel in a perfect location. Couldn't believe I was upgraded to one of their upscale private rooms in the swanky Fitzgerald hotel around the corner for no extra charge! Staying in a nice hotel in the centre of San Fran and still getting to hang out at the awesome common room at the Adelaide suited me great. Breakfast was unreal and the staff all seemed nice and helpful. Totally recommended.

Adelaide and Dakota Hotel that is half a block away work together. I spent two nights and had to change my dormitory after the first night from Dakato Hotel to Adelaide Hostel. Lugagge storage is a locked room but there is no checking if the bagagge you are retrieving belongs to you. Sales tax is not included in the total given by hostelworld.com

Booked two beds are were given a double bed which was fine as we are a couple but was a bit awkward for other people in the dorm. I asked, they thought it was weird - so did I. The hostel was very very nice and clean. Not too loud and there were organised activities. Location was great if a little sketchy at night (not really unsafe just a lot of homeless about). There were ample bathrooms, lots of free computers and free wifi plus a massive lounge. Breakfast was really good too. Great hostel!

I stayed there for 3 nights and absolutely liked it! I've stayed in so many hostels, but I've never had such an amazing breakfast!! Even if you're coming after 9.30am you will still get some ;) And go and join the free walking Tour (Thanks to Mary!!) - it's definitely worth it, especially if you are travelling alone! I made some new friends on this tour which whom I could spend my next days in SF :) The Hostel also provides you with special deals for renting a bike, you will save a few bugs!

- Conveniently located, just two blocks from Union Square - Clean kitchen with excellent facilities - Yummy breakfast, incl. in the price - Dorms are not spacious, no shelves or wand hooks, only a small lockers - Confortable and clean beds - Cosy living room for reading and chilling - Helpful staff - Everything very clean, except carpets in the dorms Definitely one of the best hostels I've stayed at in the last 7 months. I can highly recommend this place

we booked Adelaide Hostel for their location and also because they pretend to have the best breakfast in town. we were told on our arrival that Adelaide was full so we were relocated at Dakota hotel across the street which does not have the same atmosphere and breakfast was just bread and bagels from the supermarket . other than that the location is excellent .

This is a great little hostel with lots of character. It's not too big so you get to meet people, if you want. If not, it's quiet to sleep there, not much traffic noise or drunk teenagers in the halls! The area is great for exploring the city. It's on the edge of the Tenderloin but it really is not a problem all. They have started changing the metal bunks over to wooden ones now, which means soon everyone will have squeak-free bunks with curtains. Best hostel breakfast I've had to date.

I booked a three-person private room with Adelaide but they sent me to another so called \"sister hotel\" saying that as a hostel, they don\'t provide private rooms. This is to some extent justifiable since hostels should be primarily about dorm beds. But if you don\'t have it, don\'t list it. The hotel they sent me to was called Fitzgerald, and it was worst place i have ever stayed. And I will have to ask Adelaide to take the blame for its \"sister hotel.\"

Owner Comment (Show)
We're sorry you weren't pleased with the room, we do attempt to ensure that all of our guests are happy with their accommodation while staying with us in the city. The Fitzgerald is a 3 star hotel and is a nicer room than found in any hostel in the city.

We had a private room, so we were sleeping a block away from the hostel, in a room from the Fitzerald hotel wich was OK, but unfortunately without any fun. To sa the truth when we were wondering at the hostel it was pretty boring (but I wasn't there for the week-end). It is averall a good deal, very well situated. Breakfast is suprisingly big and good.

Second time at the Adelaide. Again, great experience. This time my friend and I actually slept in the Fitzgerald Hotel (sister hotel around the corner) as we had booked a private room. FANTASTIC. 2 comfy queen beds for 40 USD a night or there abouts. Beds made up every day by a maid and a private bathroom. After many years of hostel experience I was laughing. I had 8 pillows on my bed!!! On top of this you just can't beat the location. Couple of blocks from Union square. Easy for everything!
