Very cool hostel. It's one of those active and busy hostels, so if that's not your thing... Beware. The service there is great. Best breakfast I have ever had on a hostel. Look at the price of hotels in SF and you will soon find out that this hotel has a HUGE cost benefit. The area is full of homeless at night. SF is a very accepting town when it comes to them. As far as I could tell, they were harmless and should not worry you.

we stayed at the fitzgerald hotel -private room(s) of the hostel ; room has two double beds and private bathroom / shower. only bad mark would be location / nearness of closest grocery store , a bit of a walk , up hill ( as most stuff in san francisco is ) to trader joes ( a bit pricey , in my opinion , for the hostel staying population ) local safeway grocery is a bus ride away location is excellent location for walking san fran

We stayed in a private room at the Hotel Fitzgerald, right around the corner from Adelaide. Our room was quite small, but we didn't mind (who spends much time in a hostel/hotel room, anyway?). We thought the room was very clean, and room service came by every day to bring new sheets and towels. The noise from the street can be a bit loud on a weekend night, but that's to be figured in this area of town. Hotel Fitzgerald had their own breakfast, which was okay as far as continental breakfasts go.

Seemed understaffed. Staff was very tired most of the time it seemed.

Everything was great but breakfast was the one thing I thought pretty weak. No good quality fruit juice, no cream cheese or butter (only a hydrogenated vegetable oil spread, poison if you ask me!), only bagels, bread, peanut butter, nutella and jam. One morning they had oatmeal (also sweetened, with raisins). If you want anything savory for breakfast, pack it yourself. Some alternatives, a savory spread like cream cheese, etc. would be welcome!

If you're looking to be in the center of everything, but need a quiet accommodation, this is the place that does for you. It is ideal for both families and single travelers, the hostel's lay out is excellent for meeting other people, but also to offer repair if you feel like being quiet:it is very easy to feel at home! I was very impressed by the huge breakfast! The staff is friendly and helpful, 24h a day, they organize a lot of activities, like dinners and free wine.Security is excellent!Great!

Stellar - Adelaide is an amazing place to stay, its probably one of the friendliest and cleanest Hostels in the USA let alone California. Its truly an amazing and refreshing experience. Too much fun I would say. And the staff make it what it is... Lots of love to them all :)

Overall Dakota hotel( I believe whoever booking private room will be moved here) is great! Although everything look "antique" for me in this hotel. The elevator remind me of the elevator in the inception movie*scary* ! XD The hotel is not far from market street(15 min away) and they do provide breakfast(bread, oat, milk, orange juice) in the morning.

A perfect hostel. There was always someone cleaning the main corridor where all the bathrooms were and the bath mat was always dry! Lots of laughter to be heard. Twice members of staff asked if they could help me with my suitcase. I overslept on checkout day and the manager was very polite and carefree about it. Met a lovely Australian man called Nathan outside and we drank some rum together in the early hours. A very pleasant time, highly recommended, especially as San Francisco is so beautiful

The Adelaide is a very good hostel. the dorm was spacious, and very clean and the toilets and showers! My only criticism would be the lockers beneath the beds. A pain to get in and out of and had to buy my own lock. Bring a small pad lock with you. It' saves money. The tax is added on, read the small print but still reasonable and breakfast included. Good lounge, very big and lots of comfy sofa's to sit on, generally was quiet and you could chill or get online. Mixed group young and older.

It is really close the Union Square. And you can get on the buses that will take you to wherever you want to.

I wish there were places in the room to hang our towels and maybe one or two chairs to sit down. The upper deck of the bed is a little too close to the ceiling -- a person as short as me even can't sit up without hitting my head. The breakfast is good. The locker inside the room is large enough to fit in a suitcase.
