Nice hostel, good location. The wifi didn't work very well. The connection was poor. The beds make a lot of noise. Beside these two points is is a real good deal to stay at a nice location, clean, cozy and a good buy for your money.

Great atmosphere and good location, but don't go downhill to Tenderloin. Hotel beautiful painted, shared rooms not so much. The Staff was very nice.

Great lounge space and kitchen. Close to a Walgreens and grocery store. The hostel is tucked away in an alley, so it seems a little sketchy, but I had no problems. Upon reservation the concierge sent me a great e-mail with very useful information.

The only thing I didn't like was the internet. It was awful in our room.

I was looking for something cheap, safe, and in a good location, and the Adelaide met those expectations absolutely. I was often too tired to socialize with the other guests at night but as I understand it there was always a lively atmosphere downstairs and in the hallways.

Great place to stay, great guests to talk to and helpful staff. Loved getting to store my luggage on the day I checked out, breakfast was great, and there are plenty of bathrooms!

I really liked that there was storage under the bed as opposed to other hostels where the idea is just to put your stuff wherever you can. I felt like a kid with my own cubby-hole and it was great.

The common areas were very nice but the room wasn't. The heater didn't work. The lamp on the bed side table couldn't be plugged in so it didn't work either. The mattress of the extra bed was probably one of the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on.

The cubicle bed idea with two power plugs was very awesome. They had nice events, lots of free food and drinks on some days and the staff was very fun to hang out with. Would definitely go there again.

Enjoyed my stay. Nice commons, nice social events. Clean rooms, staff was helpful. Temperature in the dorm was slightly cold at night. But all in all I'd stay there again.

It is a great place and excellently located. On the downside, although there are many activities for the guests (pub crawl, wine and cheese night, among others), the atmosphere could be better, as there are no spaces - apart from the kitchen - that actually encourage social interaction.

What a great hostel. The lounge was beautiful (even has a fireplace) the kitchen and dining room on bottom floor were spacious and really great for meeting/imteracting with people. The beds were comfortable and clean and the atmosphere in the hostel was always friendly. The hostel also has different activities for each night, which was great for meeting people. And the location was perfect the price for the area was a steal. I will be staying here again next time I'm in San Fran.

the hostel was in a very good location, and had good deals for bike rentals (when the average price for a day was $32, with the hostel we could get for less than $20. the only thing was the security. we have a password to get in the ostel, but apparently it was the same for everyone and anyone could find it out. amazing breakfast, common area and kitchen. they have different stuff to do in the night (pubcrawl, wine&cheese, etc)

For starters, I booked a double room because I was travelling with someone so I didn't actually stay in the hostel. When I showed up, at the place they just sent me to a hotel a block away. It would be nice if they told me this in advance. Apart from this the place was nice. The room was cramped, the bed was small, and the TV only worked occassionally. But the location is nice and there's nothing actively wrong with it. I'd reccommend it.

We booked a room at Adelaide Hostel and we were transfered to Dakota Hotel without any prior notification. We relied on the recommadations and pictures of Adelaide Hostel and Dakota Hotel was anything but alike. Another issue was the security. By mistake strangers received the wrong key at the front desk and were able to come into our private room in the middle of the night.

The breakfast was great with different kinds of bread, various spreads and fresh fruit! I really enjoyed the warm and welcoming atmosphere and the communicative environment. Not all hostels have the "infrastructure" to hang out and to get to know other travelers. Adelaide definitely has it!

We were moved to a different hostel - (Dakota) which was fine. Wasn't happy about having to pay 15% extra on the bill because of the San Fran tax - would have been nice to know before hand on the Hostelworld website. Room was ok - no mirror except for the bathroom. One bed was made every day, one was made the last 2 days and one wasn't touched at all. Was a bit weird. A couple of the staff were nice - some only grunted when we talked to them. No fruit at breakfast - but the rest was good.
