Some of the Staff were really friendly and helpful and some other staff got grumpy when you questioned something.

It's a nice backpacker, but everything is made for you to spend more money than you should, which is not what you wanna find in a backpacker. Ex: if you bring your own alcohol you have to pay 4$ for each bottle, they ask you to buy at the reception instead: 30$ a 6 pack of a not so good beer. 4$ an hour for wifi. A lot of forbidden things: no balcony after midnight (even on Christmas), kitchen closed after 10pm. On the other hand the manager is really nice

Nice staff. Felt safe with 24h open reception and locked doors at night. Bathrooms very clean and good hot showers. Kitchen worked well. We used the laundry machine, the clothes were not completely clean when they came out... Otherwise good hostel.

Only realistic objection wasn't the hostel's fault. In a 10-dorm, the clients spread possessions across the floor from one side to the other making it seriously hazardous to get to my bed in the dark. Recommendation: rent out torches like you do the towels and key. Needs more toilets. Some were good, some excellent. If I need such accommodations again, I wouldn't hesitate to use or recommend Shakespeare's. I am 78 and disabled. The staff treated me like anyone else. Thanks to all. Janos Pogany

pretty average. could use a bit more cleaning..

I've stayed in hostels all across Europe and now all across australia. This was one of the worst hostels I have ever stayed in. The place smelled bad, the staff barely spoke english, the sheets weren't clean, my room was right next to the stairs on the first floor and whenever someone went up or down it sounded like an earthquake. Barely slept. For 22$ a night I expected and hoped for a lot more. It was just really a bad experience. Great location though.
